Hi Ladies,

I am just new to this thread but not new to bc. I am an 8 year survivor of Stage IIb, had 4 cm tumour, 3 positive lymph nodes. Did left breast lumpectomy, chemo, radiation and then had my ovaries removed in 2008 due to er/pr+ status.

Fast foward a few years, youngest sister diagnosed with bc in 2010, reoccured stage 4 in 2012 - died in April 2012. Older sister just diagnosed with bc two weeks ago, had mascetomy almost a week ago.

Due to my high risk family history and not wanting to take a chance on reoccurance or new primary have decided to do a prophy mast with immediate reconstruction.

I am a Canadian living in Ontario. My doctor referred me to both a bs (breast surgeon for masectomy) and the ps (plastics surgeon) who works together. I am just trying to get a feel of how long you think I will have to wait for a consult and then surgery? I have read stories of waits of 2 years! WOW, that sucks. I am doing this to hopefully avoid a reoccurance due to my high risk. If it helps both of these doctors are in Hamilton, Ontario. I wonder if I would be considered higher priority due to strong family history and previous bc? Obviously not as high priority as someone with current active cancer.

Due to my high risk I am even considering doing double mast first and then waiting for reconstruction......not what I want to do but I dont want to take the risk waiting...

Michele
