I'm 62, diganosed with BC this March. Being a decendent Ashenazi Jew was one of the major factors listed. Others out there? Ages..how are you all doing? Anyone have high incident of nodal involment as I? I has 27/30 nodes with tumor.  Thanks!

Those of Ashkenazi Jewish descent have a higher incidence of BRCA 1&2 mutations and thus a higher rate of bc from these mutations. However, this still accounts for a very small percentage of those who are dx with bc. I'd hesitate to say being of Ashkenazi descent is a major risk factor, but it is a risk factor. I am Jewish and was tested for BRCA mutations but was negative. Being a woman and getting older is a greater risk factor than being of Ashkenazi descent. See my signature line for stats. Almost 2 years out from a stage IV dx and mostly doing well. Take care.

Thanks Caryn. I did fit in all the right places, by age, 62, first child at 34, not much use of birth control and no hormone replacement, Ashkenazi..etc. Two years is great! Be well.  Tomorrow is 9th of Av..hope the world stays quiet!
