Hey everyone,

Any genetics counselors on this board? I have a really good question to ask while I wait to see a GC next week.

How accurate are the BRCA tests, for people ALREADY diagnosed and going through treatment for BC?  (I was told by my MO that I had an abnormality with BRCA2), no further details were given...  My question is, we know by my current diagnosis, that I am in the 100% group for BC. So if my report says that, for example  that I HAD an 85% chance of developing breast cancer, as a predictive tool, well I've already fufilled that percentage (if you will) because I've already gotten BC... so what does that mean going forward if you have already have cancer can they tell by that if you are likely to get it again or could this one-- current BC have been that result from that 85% figure? To which that may mean I am no more likely to get it again (relative to risk of course) because it can ALWAYS happen.  Then someone else  in the general population?  I hope my question isn't too confusing...

Alicia

Alikat123 - this doesn't answer your question, and I'm not sure if I mentioned it to you already or not. But have you checked out www.facingourrisk.org yet? Great site for additional info on BRCA.
