Question
Just did my first AC treatment Monday monring with Nulasta the following day. Starting the end of day 2 is when the symptoms began, such as nausea, nothing tastes good, foggy headed etc. Now I have called the office twice (I'm sure the nursing staff is sick of hearing from me) for questions. I am finally on the uphill swing of this mess but have one question and I'm not sure if I want to call the staff or not. I noticed Wed night as I slept my chest kind of hurt, especially when I inhale deeply. I had the power port put in a week ago and thought maybe it was from it (especially since the little evil device hampers how I lay anyway) It is still bothering me when I lay down, so I though I would ask on here and see if anyone has similar experiences. Tried to call the surgeons office but they are out of the office today.

I think it is very reasonable for the pain to be from the port insertion. I think I remember mine being uncomfortable for a while. I can't remember specifics now. my CRS. lol.
remember they cut you about a inch and did some manipulating in chest area to get port in. and then on monday the staff accessed it.

I slept in a recliner in the living room the whole time I had a port. I never, ever got comfortable with it.

I couldn't inhale deeply then started to cough. I had a collapsed lung from the port insertion.

For a month after my port placement four years ago, I was black and blue and red and purple and yellow and green. It was very painful for at least a month.

Scribblinhanna - do you have a nurse navigator? Mine is amazing and wonderful at answering questions. I never hesitate to call her and anything she can't answer, she is more than happy to find out. I remember when I first met her, I did not understand her role at all. Happily found out she is a jack of all trades!

thanks..don't have a nurse navigator..that would be nice
tried to call the surgeons office but they were out today..if it's still a problem Monday I will try again. Still waiting on the last set of biopsy results anyway -
Doctors sometimes need to be reminded that we're not medical experts and that when we have questions/fears we need to talk to them about it. Too bad if the staff gets irritated..if they were in your position they would probably be as concerned as you are. Since becoming Stage IV I've learned that I'm the patient and my needs/concerns come first because it is my life not theirs. Plus they get paid to treat us, we're still the customer and we deserve to get what they get paid to do. Sorry for the rant but I get tired of some doctors who think we should shut up and not bother them with our little problems.
