Trying to navigate dealing
Watch Man of Steel Online By the time they followed it up with a full-fledged music video last week it was pretty obvious that the chemistry between Capitol cop John Cale (Tatum) and President James Sawyer (Foxx) was going to be one of the main reasons to see White House Down, the new action movie in which terrorists take over 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and only one man can help get the President out alive. It also helps that the movie is directed by the great Roland Emmerich, who blew up the White House in Independence Day and knocked an aircraft carrier into it in The Day After Tomorrow, just for good measure. With Independence Day coming up this week, really, what better way to celebrate?
Watch The Hangover Part 3 Online Legendary’s Tull later responded by saying “there are rights issues that would need to be sorted out for Legendary to get involved.” No word on whether these issues are something Tull thought would be worth his time however. One of the more ratings-successful non-CBS comedies to make its way onto primetime in the last couple of years is New Girl, Elizabeth Meriwether's ensemble comedy about a group of friends living together in a loft. The second season just wrapped up on Fox last spring, and today comes word that Season 1 has become available in its entirety on Netflix.
Watch Monsters University Online But Perlman, who once said he wouldn’t do another Hellboy because of the heavy make-up issues, was far more openly joyous about the prospect. “I loved working for Legendary, and I know for Guillermo, working on Pacific Rim was one of his greatest experiences,” Perlman shared. “The reason I loved working for them is because Guillermo was so happy. I came in six months into the shoot and he seemed as fresh as a daisy, simply because he was working for someone who appreciated and supported his outlandish visions of what he wanted to put on the screen. My immediate, silent wish was, wouldn't it be great if these guys came in and helped resolve the Hellboy series." We think Perlman should just go ahead and get permanent devil horns surgically implanted anyway.
Watch The Hangover 3 Online For more on White House Down you can check out the video blog that Sean and I recorded in front of the White House, between our interviews with the cast; at that post you can also rate the film if you've seen it, and discuss it with spoilers. There's also Kristy's joyful GIF review, in which the madness of White House Down can only be expressed with looped animation from Ernest Goes To Camp, or Eric's more straightforward regular review. Oh, and there's also the original "Channing All Over Your Tatum" video for your viewing pleasure:
Watch The Internship Online Above you can watch my conversation with Tatum and Foxx, in which I ask them about the secret to their bromance-- it involves Foxx taking over a DJ booth at a party in Mexico-- and why Tatum risks his neck over and over again on the set to make sure that he does his own stunts. Foxx-- a smart veteran of the movie business-- says he's perfectly happy to let his stunt double earn his paycheck. The two of them were perched on the top floor of the Hay-Adams Hotel in Washington, D.C., and yes, that's the real White House you see behind them. The area just outside that iconic black gate is free space for anyone to gather, protest and make as much noise as you want, and from time to time the sounds of chants or drums or just general noise would make their way up to the interview room. The chatter you see at the beginning of the interview came from me asking about Tatum's newborn baby, who was just 23 days old when we had our conversation. It's a cliche to say that new parents are literally glowing, but seriously, this is one insanely happy guy.
Watch Now You See Me Online In the video above you can see the quick conversation I had with Emmerich about his latest film White House Down, in which the dynamic duo of Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum find themselves fighting off a terrorist invasion of the most famous house in America. He talked about the time he's been inside the actual White House, to pay a visit to that sci-fi-loving President Clinton, and how he played with the Die Hard model of action movie to make something his own. He also revealed what was a surprise to me at least-- that pool that you see the car crashing into in the film's trailer is actually on the White House grounds! I would say I'm jealous, but I will probably trade my lack of a pool for the sake of a house unlikely to be attacked by terrorists any time soon.
On premise, New Girl isn't anything particularly extraordinary, focusing on a group of single people being single and trying to navigate dealing with various professional and personal issues along the way. And then there's three guys living with one girl, which occasionally offers its own layer of humor. But - as is the case for many great comedies - what works so well for New Girl is the quirkiness of its characters. And no one is quirkier than Zooey Deschanel, who plays the titular "new girl" Jess, a woman who moves into a loft full of guys after she finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her. Her new home is part of Jess' attempt to start over. Her roommates are Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Winston (Liamorne Morris). And Jess' best friend Cecilia (Hannah Simone) rounds out the group, though she doesn't live with them. As many friends-focused comedies tend to do, there's been some romantic crossover with some of the characters, and that's been part of the driving force of the comedy, as has the chemistry among the cast and the fact that the success of the series hasn't been entirely on Deschanel's shoulders.
