itching question

Options

During the last month (since it has gotten hot) and mostly after sweating or at the end of the day, I notice that under my bra (the line at the bottom) is itchy and a little red.  I think it is the heat-at least that's what I hope.  I use aveeno morning and night on that side and it seems to help until the end of the next day.  It is on the prosthetic side.  Anyone else have this at this time of year?  Any suggestions of what to use to help it?  And of course the other question...if it comes and goes it's not cancer, right?

    Hi Carol,

It does sound like a heat reaction. I have that issue myself sometimes and have used Aveeno (with cortisone) on it, too, though I do that very sparingly. I've also tried using cornstarch or other powder, which can help a bit to keep the area free from perspiration. Oddly, the thing that works best for me is to fold a plain Kleenex tissue (not one with lotion embedded in it) and put it between my bra and my chest. If I do perspire, I can easily change it out for another to keep the area as cool and dry as possible. Honestly, I've never had one fall out, although I was initially worried that would happen. I've tried a variety of cotton pads as well, but they don't work as well for me as a plain old tissue. Not very elegant, but the best solution I've found so far. :)

It doesn't sound like anything to be concerned about, cancerwise, but it wouldn't hurt to run it by your oncologist if it persists.

Nystatin oitment. My DH gets rashes like this and nystatin (cheap too) works for him. MAybe pantiliners? The sticky side on the bra, the absorbent side on your skin? Cornstarch? Doesn't sound like cancer. Heat rash.
