Dizziness post chemo

Ever since ending chemo one month ago, I notice I get more dizziness. I have always gotten dizzy pretty easily. Five years ago when I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, my dizziness was pretty bad. I had a brain MRI and it was clear. Over time it got better. The only time I get dizzy now is if I am bent over and stand up quickly or if I am sitting on the floor playing with my kids and I get up quickly. Today I was in my garden weeding and I was bent over for 20 minutes. By 20 minutes I was extremely dizzy every time I would stand up straight. Is this normal? I automatically go to that dark place since diagnosis. I live in fear!

Could be just a blood pressure problem.  Not uncommon at all, my husband has this.

Maybe a visit to your doctor is in order.

    • Orthostatic (postural) hypotension is an excessive fall in blood pressure that occurs when a person stands up or is in an upright position.
    • Dizziness, light headedness, blurred vision, loss of consciousness, and falls are the common symptoms.
    • Treatment of postural hypotension depends on the cause.
    • There are many ways to avoid or reduce postural hypotension.

While you wait for more members to respond, you may want to check out the main breastcancer.org site for information on dizziness.

    We hope this helps!

lmcclure: I used to get a little dizziness, but I did find it much worse following chemo; it has now resolved somewhat, but I still need to take my time getting up from a prone position. My PCP attributes this to my blood pressure, which is on the low side (and healthy). Keeping hydrated helps. (This kind of dizziness is also common among older people)

Don't think the worst at all! But do mention it to your doc, for an explanation and some peace of mind.
