First chemo today!
Off to my first chemo now and telling myself chemo is a friend helping me get better! If you, my chemo friends, would like to share what helped you and what did not... I am all ears! Good week to all....Nisa

drinks lots of fluids for the next several days, and take your nausea meds regularly for the next couple of days.
Good luck.

Nisa, eat small meals every few hours to keep nausea at bay and be proactive with medication to prevent constipation!
Rest when you feel like it. Days 3 - 5 after chemo are likely to be the worst.
It's not fun, but you will get through it.
Wishing you the best. Keep in touch. -
Take an anti-acid med morning and night. I started with 75 mg morning and night and increased (ok by onc) to 150 mg twice a day. Indigestion is one of my worst SE's and it can mask as nausea as well. Once I started on the anti-acid, I had no problems. Pepcid, Zantac or the generic which is what I take.
I second the suggestion of eating small portions...empty stomach and full stomach are uncomfortable. grazing through the day seems to sit the best. What works best for my funky tastebuds are dill pickles, watermelon, fruit smoothies (ie Mcdonalds!) and anything spicey.
Last suggestion - REST. I'm half way through my 6 TCH treatments and have worked everyday. However I've learned to stop and take a quick nap and to catch rest when I can because when I over do it....I feel bad and worn out. When I slow the pace, I feel pretty normal.
Good luck today! I have had minimal SE's and was told by my onc that many people breeze through chemo (kind of hard to believe) - but the anticipation was much worse than the reality...so far at least!
Hugs to all

Had my first day with C/T last Wednesday, Fear of the unknown is worse. I felt weak that afternoon, day 2 very weak, Drink plenty and I mean plenty of water, You want to flush out the chemicals. Had to take nausea pills at bedtime on day 2 & 3. Worse thing my tongue has been very sore, and underneath my jaw line. And finding foods that taste good to me was another big chore. Just rest when you can, take mini naps or long naps when ever you feel the need.
Not looking forward to the next treatment on July 10, but I know what to expect. I have been working part-time since my treatments, but it is do-able.
Good Luck Ladies.

Ladies, take a good probiotic. It will help with the indigestion and sore mouth. I can't tell you how important it is to drink, drink, drink. Wash those chemical out! For the 3-4 days after chemo just sleep when you want to sleep. You won't get your days and nights turned around.
