Owww! IM shot in the rear--how long does soreness last?

Options

Last time I saw my onc he added another medication to my treatment plan. My tumor had "neuroendocrine features", so I am getting an AI, plus octreotide, which is used to treat neuroendocrine tumors. After self-injecting octreotide three times a day (to make sure I didn't have an adverse reaction to it) I had my first shot today of the time-release version of the drug, which is given once a month intramuscularly. I assumed beforehand that this would be in the arm, like tetanus vaccine, but apparently the volume of the shot is too large to give that way, so I got it in the bum instead. Now I'm as sore as heck! I seem to recall there's another breast cancer med that's also injected in the rear and I'm wondering how long it takes the soreness to go away.
