Hello everyone!

I am reaching out to the world on behalf of my stepmother Marjo. We all call her JoJo, though. JoJo has been fighting with breast and ovarian cancer for several years now and after a successful double mastectomy and a hysterectomy, JoJo is now in remission. We're all overjoyed that the hard battle has been won, but as any other survivor knows, there's more battles to be fought.

Remission is indeed excellent news, however it has taken it's toll on her morale. In her own words, "it's great to be alive and recovering but... it's also very depressing that I am not even really a woman anymore". This breaks my heart, and I find myself angry at the world sometimes because there is a solution but it is just outside of our financial capabilities. Especially after years of cancer treatments, surgery and other medical expenses. Something which most of you are probably familiar with as well. Being canadian, we have the luxury of having decent healthcare at no extra cost, however there are always expenses that are NOT covered... but I'm preaching to the choir here.

This is why we've all decided to reach out to you wonderful people and try to raise awareness about survivors and the issues they face AFTER their battle with cancer as well as gather enough funds to pay for breast reconstruction surgery and hopefully some scar removal / treatment to help her feel as beautiful as she really is. Unfortunately we aren't wealthy and can't afford expensive plastic surgery by ourselves, so every bit of help will be put to good use!

Thank you in advance to everyone who took the time to read this message, view our page and share it with others.
