In shock for a different reason - PREGNANT!

Well, I celebrated my 34th birthday last Sunday, it was beautiful, I was happy. I had been feeling some cramping for a few days and was like wait a minute...the last two times this has happened I wound up pregnant. So I took a home pregnancy test and it was positive.

Hubby and I were in shock for two days. I pretty much thought chemo nuked my ovaries and eggs. I always wanted another child and hated cancer for taking that 3rd child away from me. We had no time for egg preservation or anything, no time at that time for anything else but to kill the cancer cells...

Well the shock has worn off and I am so happy, happy, happy! I just wanted to share - yep it can still happen! Different types of fears now but for this moment I'll just focus on the happy part

That is so awesome.  There is another stage III girl who went thru an entire pregnancy and delivered a beautiful baby boy!  I am sure she will check in with you.

Thank you, thank you for being happy with me. I told two of my closest friends and I'm sure it didn't help at that time that I was shell-shocked but their first reactions were worried ones...not happy ones. But I am happy now, of all the people who know what this baby's risk to my health is - that would be me and I am happy.

Now....I had juuust thrown a box of my maternity clothese in storage 2 months ago and we gave away our crib last year...LOL

letlet...congratulations! May the blessing of this new little one be only joy. I would encourage you to share the part of BC, when sharing about the baby, with those you choose. I know many already know, but when you meet new people and share your happy baby news you don't owe them the BC history part!! It's your life, your story, your decision who needs to know about BC...this may help keep the "sad, concerned" looks and comments minimal....just a thought!!

Thanks everyone...thanks for rejoicing with me. I'm not going to let fear rule my life, I choose joy. Its a tough road financially but there are much much more worse things in life and we know this.

Congratulations!!  I ran across your post and smiled when I read it.  I was stage IIIa and am two years out from treatment.  I currently am off my tamoxifen to try and have a baby.  I agree that while we need to be responsbile with our health, we do NOT need to let cancer dictate how we live the rest of our lives.  I hope you have a happy, healthy pregnancy!

I keep smiling back when I read your posts. You all understand how this is such happy news. i know having a baby, period, is usually happy news but after dealing with BC...going through hell of treatments for over a year and more emotional recovery later, it is such a wonderful and happy surprise. My journey is not over, this is my next chapter and it has nothing to do with BC!
