Constant pain
I was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer of the right breast in 2005. I went into remission from 2007-2011. I became pregnant in January 2011 and gave birth to a 5lbs 15oz baby boy by c-section in September 2011. In April 2012 I had a pulmonary embolism in my right lung and was hospitalized for 5 days. There, my doctors discovered the tumor and reoccurred and found metastasis on 2 of my ribs on the right side. Currently I am receiving radiation treatment to the metastasis sites and have extreme pain in my right leg. I did a PET scan and bone scan to which there were no indication of metastasis to my legs. I am taking Oxycodone and using fentanyl for pain but nothing really seems to help. I don't want to take the opioids becuz I have a toddler at home with me. I would rather have some kind of physical therapy or an alternative to taking anymore medication. Plz help.....Im just looking for some relief from this constant pain.

Congradulations on your delivery. I wish I could help with the pain thing. I am going through some myself, and it seems all the codeine in the world doesn't touch it. I don't like the side effects of pain meds either.
I want to keep an eye on this post though in case anyone has any suggestions.

Eunique, I'm so sorry that you're dealing with so much pain. I wanted to suggest that you might want to re-post your question in the Stage IV section, where you and Sparkytheimp might get more input faster. Go to All Topics (to the left), then scroll down until you see Stage IV.
It's wonderful that you were able to have a healthy baby! Congratulations! I'm also glad you've found BCO, and hope you'll get some good suggestions for your situation. (((Hugs))) Deanna

Before my lumpectomy I never had any pain. My lump caused me no pain until I was advised due to family history I should have it removed. July 30, 2012 I had it removed. My life prior was filled with sports, daily gym weight training, running my dogs after work and kayaking the river by my home. After the lumpectomy I never returned to the gym or any activities that fulfilled my life due to extreme pain every day. Pain where they cut me, pain where the dent is left from a golf ball size of tissue was removed and pain in my chest from the infection from hematoma and then costiocondritis. Taking multiple anti-inflamitories and pain meds do nothing to relieve me from pain so intense I can't wear a bra or even have the breast touched/bumped. My six month follow up at the imaging center was the most painful as the doctor stated he was confused to see a dent and scar because he mailed to the surgeon July 11, 2012 his biopsy diagnosis was I only had a fibroid, not cancerous. I heard this result a week after my lumpectomy but I was hurt to learn the surgeon had this information prior to a surgery that left me in chronic pain , emotionally and physically scarred. I have seen several doctors and no help in pain management. I've been told scar tissue can be part of the pain. I had implants prior and I may have capsulary tightening around my implant that is a source of a lot of my pain. I pray someone has advice because I don't trust the doctors after my test results were withheld, I was told by the surgeon I would not have a dent because my breast would fill with adipose tissue and that the pain is temporary...lies. All I had was a fibroid and now I have pain every day. Can someone please tell me how to get relief ?

I hope this helps someone with pain and am hoping for feedback for me on 'normal' pain.
I am almost 3 weeks post op (mast right side), but went through 4 surgeries total in 4 weeks that I had general anesthetic for.
I can't figure out if my pain is 'normal' or I am just a wimp.
I still hurt enough most mornings and nights to need the combination of IB Profin 600 mg every 6 hrs and OxyContin every 4 hrs. Still hurts but is tolerable.
Thanks for any feedback. As I say since diagnosis 'cancer sucks but we don't.'
