CT Scan question.. Radiation an issue?

Hi,

During my breast cancer treatments/screening of my ovaries, it was discovered that i have what appears to be a benign kidney cyst that hasn't done any growing and that they are confident that they are benign... however, the nephrologist suggests doing one ct scan over the course of my lifetime to give the cyst a scale and then if it scales 1-2, no more monitoring.

getting to the point of my question, i asked my internist about radiation issues and she said that ct is a big one because it is the equivalent to 200 chest xrays. WOW... so now, im just not sure what to think or do! i worry about getting new cancers due to this scan and i worry what if i need more in my future due to the breast cancer.

doctors seems to negate that these scans can actually CAUSE cancer, but i wonder if there is more to the story that they are unwilling to admit. i would like to know other's thoughts on the CT scan and radiation issues.
