Concave rib cage under radiated breast.

Options

Do other women have concave rib cages under their radiated breast? I thought my breast was getting smaller but it was sinking in the rib cage that was/is turning into a sink hole. I had to get a new implant on the radiated side last Oct. to even things out. The implant on the radiated side is 200cc bigger .

When I was researching tissue expanders/implants after radiation, I recall seeing a case study about a woman whose ribs were pushed in by the expander. Could that be what happened in your case?

lane4, I had tissue expanders on both sides, left side is not concave. I had radiation in 2004 and expanders in 2008. I noticed a smaller breast on radiated side after radiation. My plastic surgeon told me my chest was concave in 2008. I don't know what caused it. Other women have written on this site about rib pain, I also have rib pain and can not sleep on the radiated side. Thank you sooo much lane4

Hi,   I do not feel like my tram flap/rib cage  is concave just the incision appears to be getting larger and the breast is shrinking all from radiation .   It is amazing what radiation can do to the body....I finished on Feb 6 2013 and still having shrinking, pain and less use of my arm....  giong through physical therapy and seems to help with the pain but maybe it is causing more shrinkage?   CRAZY!    I noticed in your notes you had a double mastectomy and the cancer returned, did you find it?    Mine returned after 11 years in the mastectomy breast too...
