Well, now I'm scared!

I am 65 but in my head I am not 65.  I found this forum and couldn't hardly make the connection if you know what I mean. I just recently had a single mastectomy (April) and have not started treatment.  Do some of you feel that the more you read the more scared you get?  Apparently breast cancer at this age has it's special problems.  I just need a few words of encouragement .  This is all too new for me.   Does that make sense?

    Hello a-childs-prayrer

I do agree that reading too much on this board or any other media, can make you more anxious. On the other hand, it gives you more information to ask your doctor questions.  I'm 63.  I was diag last summer at the age of 62.  Orginally diag with dcis with first excisional lumpectomy.  2nd lumpectomy done to get larger margins changed my diag to dcis/micro invasive.  I had lots of questions about that but my doc said micro invasive is very very small.  That kind of answer didnt make me feel better.  My sister was diag a month earlier than I with lump .3cm larger than mine.  She was diag IDC.    So answers like my doc gave me only make me want to do more reading.   I guess the more information you can find on your own, the more questions you can ask your doctor.  You just have to be careful not to automatically think someone elses issue is exactly like yours.  There are all kinds of variants.
