I need help please
Hello everyone,
I will just put it right out there. My husband has just been diagnosed with stage 2 Parkinson's disease. He has been my rock through this madness of breast cancer. I just can't believe it. Are there others like me?

I do understand what you are feeling. My husband has been my rock thru breastcancer and I often just look at him and think OMG, I love him so much for this and if he ever gets sick I want to be his rock but just hope I will have that kind of strength.

Hugs Richa -
Ugh Sharon, I am so sorry. For whatever it is worth, my grandpa had Parkinson's for a long time, and he managed pretty well.

Sharon,
Sorry to hear about your husband's illness. I have a colleague who was diagnosed with stage 2 Parkinson's. She is a little slow but is managing very well. She works full time and lives alone (even takes care of her elderly parents).
There are many treatment options available - I hope your husband can maintain a normal life for years to come.

My oncologist has Parkinson's ........never seems to slow him down.
I would suggest registering with the Parkinson's Foundation....PM me if you need the information.
My YMCA has a Parkinson's program and it is amazing what it is doing for those dealing with this. The foundation should be able to provide who has programs in your area....
Hope this helps!

I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through but please know that we are here to support you in what ever way we can. {{{Hugs}}}

Sharon I am so sorry to hear this. Our University, and many others, are doing a procedure called deep brain stimulation for patients ith PD. It can really work wonders. There are some decent meds available as well.
All my hugs and best wishes. -
(((((((((((((((((((((Sharon))))))))))))))))....My mother has Parkinsonism...the prelude to Parkinson....other than great difficulty walking she is doing okay....I know how scary this can be....she just started on a new med...forgot what it is called but from my understanding there are many good meds.....She was my father's care taker for 6+ years till he passed away last week.
I hope your DH can continue to be your rock!!! Keep us posted.

I am so sorry to hear of your husband's diagnosis. As awful as this sounds now, I believe your bond will grow even stronger. Prayers and hugs to you both -

Hello,
The last few months have been quite challenging but I am up for the task. My husband saw his doctor and was prescribed some meds to help slow the progression of his disease. He is doing pretty good other than the incontinence at night. I have to really make sure he puts his diaper on before bedtime. Men are so vain you know. I have some abdominal swelling going on but I will see my doctor about that in November. We will get thru this come hell or high water. Just needed to vent. Thank you. -
Sharon
I am so sorry you are going through this. Two months after my dx my husband was dx with advanced colon cancer. It is very difficult as we have two kids aged 10 and 14. I have completed my treatment but he still had a lot more to go. We are actually doing pretty good despite it all. It is amazing what you can handle when you have too! Hugx to you ! -
Hello shoppygirl,
I thought in the beginning, I would lose my mind. But as time has gone by we are doing well. My kids are older, 25 and 19. I guess the old saying is true. You will never be given more than you can handle.
Love and Blessings to you and yours.

My 95 year old mom had the deep brain stimulators implanted at Mayo Clinic in Arizona when she was 85. It was the most amazing thing. She went from barely able to function to complete independence.... Unless she tells someone about it, no one has any idea she has any issues.

Eric great to hear. I agree- the DBS has been an amazing development for PD patients. It sounds so scary but beleive it or not it is super-routine for the brain surgeons.
Sharon GOOD luck and HUGE HUGS. My goodness you have a lot on your plate.
