Ok I know this is weird but this is one of many that has me spastically worried.. I am to have surgery 5/28 and knowing that Aunt Flow should be visiting right about then if not two days sooner... any ideas how they handle that through surgery, I've only had ear surgery as a child hadn't hit puberty yet...I am on edge with simple things worrying me like will I feel off balance after the lumpectomy...why is there so much on plate cant they condence this stuff.. I was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ last week and no matter what I'll be ok for a while but then something pops into my head then I'm a blubbering idiot for a few... Would love answers... anyone.

Deep breath... it will be ok. Ask one of the nurses in your surgeon's office. I'm guessing they'll just have put on a fresh pad right before they put you under. This is a NORMAL body function, and I'm sure they've dealt with it before.

Best wishes, and know that all WILL be ok.

So sorry you have to go through this. It is healthy and normal to go from being okay to feeling scared. And it's actually a very good question that you just asked b/c I just went through that scenario myself.

A few things: b/c I was already taking a painkiller, cramps didn't bother me. The rest shouldn't be a problem. As the prior poster said, take it as reassurance that your body is healthy & healing.

I was in the same position during my fourth lumpectomy. They insisted I change into a pad, because they don't want you wearing a tampon for surgery, in case there are complications and they don't know that you have had a tampon in for too long.

    Best to you...

It's normal, no worries. Had it during my lumpectomy AND my MRI. Great timing, huh? Too hard to reschedule either of these, just wore super absorb.pads and was fine. They've seen it all.

They gave me a pad and funny looking disposable underpants which I really loved because they were so comfy. I swiped a couple of them next time.
