Port issues

Had my port put in on 5/9. Port site is healing, though still pretty sore. My arm and shoulder as well, but that was expected. However, my chest feels really tight and sore. Not severe pain, but discomfort when taking deep breaths, yawning, etc. Seems to be getting worse the last couple days. Even hurts when I talk and laugh some. I called the nurse yesterday. Since I live three hours from where I get my treatment, they told me to go see my PCP. When I called to make an appointment, the nurse there told me to go to ER. Went and waited SIX hours. They did an EKG, blood work, and chest X-ray. All came back clear f infections, or issues with heart or lungs. Praise GOD. But not sure what's going on. When I lay down, I even feel it in my throat and chest. It almost feels like when you have a bad respiratory infection that makes your chest tight and sore...or like a bowling ball rolling around inside of me, causing pressure when i lay down....I don't know. Hard to explain. I haven't heard of this, and my nurse seemed confused by it. I have no frame of reference...is this normal? Maybe my chest muscles are just swollen or inflamed? Please give me some insight someone.

I remember my port being sore for several weeks, especially when trying to sleep.  But I had been on vicodin at that time because my tumor grew so quickly that it was pulling on nerves under my arm.  It could just be that you are still sore from them getting it in there.  I hope it's feeling better soon.

I have EXACTLY what you're feeling. I even have a knot on my collarbone above the upper scar from the insertion of the port. Mine seems to be getting worse as well; however, doctor said this can be normal. I'm hoping it goes away because I can't imagine this discomfort for over a year. I hope it gets better for the both of us. Best of luck!
