Herceptin or Trastuzumab is of no use.:( It's a waste.:(
My mother
Age-48
Left Breast IDC of grade2 (ER-,PR-,HER2neu+)
stage 2b or 3a ( T2=5cm ,N1= 3 of 21 lymph nodes effected, M0)
Left MASTECTAMY surgery on 6-12-2011.
Chemotherapy started after 35 days of operation.
4*ADRIAMYCIN
4*TAXOTARE
(each cycle after 21 days)
Followed by 25 days of RADIOTHERAPY.
Followed by 17 cycle of HERCEPTIN (Tratsumab) each cycle after 21 days)
While on 14 th Herceptin a 3 centimeter singlue nodule is seen in
right Lung during routine x ray check.Through CTscan it was clearly
seen.Onc told us that biopsy is risky because it is lung.:( But he is
90% sure that it is metastasis.:(
I am in deep sorrow.
After having the class frontline therapies including HERCEPTIN it is
now metastaized to lungs.:(

good afternoon,
I feel that if you have faith that God can do all things he will help you through this as he has helped me in the past get through chempo and reconstruction sergury. I had cancer in 2003 and was in stage 2 for breast cancer and i was in remission for 8 years. Recently I had a ca27.29 done and I am in the 200’s. Prior to that it was in the 100’s just last year. There is nothing showing up on my bone and cat scans so therefore nothing to biopsy. So I pray that God will give my Dr. the wisdom to find how to bring my numbers down and to heal me as he has done in the past. for now all I can do is wait and pray Best of luck to you all.

I am so sorry to hear that you and your mom are having to face this ordeal! It can't be easy when there is so much hype about new "miracle" targeted chemos, to discover that they failed. Your mom's original dx sounds much like mine. I had adriamiacin and cytoxan followed by surgery then taxol. I started herceptin, but had to stop due to congestive heart failure but finished all of my rads. Am I cancer free? Who knows? I have oncologists who are apparently afraid to schedule a PET scan and tell me that I can't afford one (this is true). It has been 6 years so maybe I am OK. I don't know because I have stopped screenings. I am so disillusioned with the entire medical community. I hope that your mother's cancer team is much better than mine or at least as competent so that she, too can be with you for years. I know it may seem contradictory but it may be that your mom needs more chemo , more aggressive treatment now. I was told my treatment was fairly aggressive, although I think it was more likely the usual protocol at the time. I am not familiar with how it compares to the treatment that your mom received, but I hope that your mom can get the treatment she needs to survive this!
I am sending lots of hugs to your mom, to you, and to your family.
