Just finished chemo trying to prepare for mx

Options

Hi my name is Stacey I'm from Colorado. I found a lump while breast feeding. At first I thought the lump was a milk duct. When to see my ob then was sent for ultrasound and mammogram. Biopsies were taken of right lump and right abnormal lymph node. I was diagnosed 12/14/12 with DCIS with one lymph node showing high grade metastatic cancer. I have HER2 + ER/PR-. I just completed my 6th round of chemo (Herceptin, Perjeta, Carboplatin, and Taxotere). My right mx is scheduled for 06/13.

I feel very nervous/anxious for the next step in treatment. Any words of advise would be so helpful. I have good days and bad feel a lot of anxiety. My 13 month son and husband are amazing. They help redirect my constant worry but some days are just hard. Sending prayers and good thoughts to everyone.

    Hi Stacey,

I had BMX on March 6th. Stayed in the hopital overnight. The surgery was not so bad. Easier than child birth by far! I was up and around the second week, and gradually back to normal in about a month. Although you cant lift things if you get TE's. I am now two months past surgery and feel no pain. Still have TE's will not exchange until 2 months or so after chemo ends. for me that will be somewhere in July.

The worst part about MX are the drains. They are bulky and ugly and need to be cleared out and measured every 6 hours or so. I had one for only one week, and the other for two weeks. Just rest and make sure you have someone around to get things higher than your ears and open things. You will do fine. Just another nice blip on this road we are all on!
