The Juicer World--how to decide

I've been reading about juicing as one way of getting great food nutrients each day, especially vegetables.

I think I want to try it but when I got on Amazon to look at the juicers I was overwhelmed with choices.

Does anyone have any experiences (good or bad) recent brands/models they could share?

Thanks, Peggy

I have always been into juicing, used to have a cetrifugal normal type. It was an absolute pain to clean. I then found out about the slow auger type that cold presses. I bought the Oscar, I don't know if they seel by that name in the US, I'm in Australia. Another one is the Hurom. If you are to believe the "blurb" with these cold press juicers, they don't generate any heat, and mascerate (sp) the produce, supposedly giving you living juice. These machines can handle wheatgrass, ginger, garlic and herbs too, which the spinning blade typed don't seem to cope with too well. The juice really does stay fresh longer, and there are attachments that come with them for making frozen fruit desserts, and nut butter, pasta etc.  They are a versatile machine.

I can really recommend this type of machine, they are more expensive but they do a great job, and they are pretty indestructable.

I also use the Norman Walker Juicing book. He's an advocate for "eat your fruit and juice your vegetables!"

    Hope this helps!

I just purchased the Vitamix 5200.

    I love it!!!!!!

To clean- I just immediately rinse out the canister and put warm water and a little dish soap and put it on level 2 for a couple of minutes. Rinse and I am done!!!!

I feel really good too .

Peggy, if you don't want to spend a lot, quite a few women I know have recently bought NutriBullets, which can be found in the $80-100 range @ Target, etc.  In fact, I'm in a group on FB (even though I have a Champion juicer) called Bullet Proof, which is dedicated to sharing juicing ideas, experiences and encouragement.  And everyone in that group seems really happy with their NutriBullets.

If you or anyone else is interested in joining that FB group (no matter what kind of juicer you end up getting), PM me and I'll tell you who to contact.  Or there may even be a similar thread here; not sure.     Deanna

I also have the Hurom...I have used it everyday for the last year and a half and am very pleased...I juice lots of broccoli and other veggies! The juice does have a bit more pulp than other juicers, but that is a good thing.

I also have a Vitamix which I make smoothies ( Whey protein, spinach and so on). Also very pleased with it as I have used it almost everyday for the last year and a half.

You'll love how you feel by juicing and making smoothies!!

I have the Green Star Elite. I really like it. There's a lot of demo videos on youtube that helped me decide on this last one I bought.

Vitamix 5200!!!! Easy to clean. Just pit some warm soapy water in it after using and spin on "2"

    Then rinse.

Love that I keep the fiber with the juice.

I wish you were closer! I have a juicer that I've been unable to give away.

I love my Vitamix, but remember, it is not a juicer. It is a blender which is a tool for grinding. It does not deliver juice separated from fiber. I suppose you could grind and then filter? If you end up going the Vitamix route, you can get some good deals on refurbs.
