All of you ladies are in my prayer, lifting all our worries, pain, confusion, sadness, stress, and everything else we are struggling with up to the Higher Power for Him to take from our shoulders. Better days are ahead for all of us and we will be that much stronger and grateful.
-
Amen
-
Lord, you are mighty and we are weak. We ask you for strength and to lift our worries, pain, confusion, sadness and stress during our time of battle. We know that with your help, we can beat the beast named Cancer. Please bring hope and wisdom to my sisters: Cyndy, Janet, Ann, Katie, Lisa, Melissa, Annie, Heather, Cyndie, Melanie, Jerrie, and all of our fellow warriors, that we may choose the path that will lead us to complete recovery. I ask this in your name. Amen.
-
Amen.

Beautiful, thanks Steph01.
We just got back from the Relay for Life event and I am still very emotional. It was held at our local high school track and the bleachers were packed. At 6 they asked all survivors to line up and sit in the front row of the bleachers. We wore purple shirts with a large 'survivor' on the back and I had on my pink ribbon pin. Once settled, there was a short ceremony with a guest speaker, Rob Drake, a local teacher and high school coach. Rob was diagnosed seven months ago with stage IV lung cancer and never smoked in his life. He gave up coaching basketball, his wife quit her job and they are now traveling because the doctors said he has one year to live. He talked about his team; his team of doctors, his family team, his team of co-workers and students. He said that God is his coach, and that's when he broke down. The loudest, longest round of applause followed and the tears started flowing. Maybe you had to be there, but oh my, it was so moving.
A microphone was handed down to each person and we said our name, what type of cancer we had, and how long we've been survivors or if we still have cancer and are going through treatments. After we each spoke, we got up and exited onto the track and waited until all survivors spoke and were on the track. We were then led in prayer and the national anthem was sung. They brought a banner out for a few people to carry and we walked behind that. That's when I began my prayers for each of you. I said your names and asked the Lord to lift you up, to wrap each of you in His loving arms. I also thanked each of you for being part of MY team, my web of female friends who I've relied on for guidance, for bad-day fixing, for cheering up and for cheering on.
There were tons of people who lined the track and clapped the entire time we walked. It was so cool. After the survivor lap was complete, others joined us and my husband walked with me. It was a beautiful night.
I definitely support Katie's idea of finding a walk to participate in. I know there are Susan G Komen 5K walks in almost every large city. I've not participated in those before, but I heard they are very well organized.
I hope everyone has a wonderful night. I sure did.
Ann -
Thank you, Ann.
-
Ann, I feel like I was there with you. Thank you for sharing with us. I didn't go this year because it was just before my surgery.
-
Thank you so much Ann. I could just close my eyes and picture everything as you were telling it. I can imagine how moving that must have been.
Steph01: That was the most beautiful prayer. I know God has his hands on us.
Katie: That is a great idea!! We could all hold hands and walk together. -
know I'm a couple pages late in replying but I was 35 when diagnosed the first time and 42 with my recurrence.
Is there anyone else on here that has had a recurrence of BC or am I the only one?
-
Ann... that was just beautiful. I wish I had been there. Thanks for sharing with us!!
-
Ann thankyou for walking for us and for sharing with us.
Thanks to all for their prayers.
Run4us, I havent had a recurrence.
Healing hugs -
No recurrence here, but had thyroid cancer two years ago.
-
Thank you Ann, beautiful description of the ceremony!
-
Oh Ann thank you. I have some tears in my eyes tonight. I missed you all these past couple of days that I have been away. I went south a couple hours to see my cousin and BC thriver. She is more a sister than cousin and has been my rock. Well with me having to start chemo soon, I wanted to get a short cut. It's gonna be gone in about a month. I'm so scared. I'm emotional. I'm exhausted. Yet I keep trudging along. I am dx 37 turning 38 later this year. Waiting for an appt to get a port placed as I hate needles and told the doc, well unless he wants me on ativan for the next 20 weeks.. a port would be wise. Soo.. that's what's up with me. Trying to be positive, but oh it can be so exhausting lately. I'm just glad that we were safe from the floods. Ok, rambled enough about me tonight.
I thank each and everyone of you for being there on this warriors path of mine. I intend to kick @$$. And head to Disneyworld in January... My happy place.
-
Ann felt as if I was there with you reading of your experience.
If you ladies are interested, my idea is this everyone PM me their email address and I will then comprise a list of all of ours and then email you all back the list. That way no one can "forget" LOL.
-
Good Morning! Hopefully everyone had a restful night. I actually finally slept 8 hours. Totally exhausted yesterday. I think, also, that some of the fatigue was caused by not taking Lortab but once in the morning. I have been taking them since last Friday at least 3 a day. I had noticed way back that when I even take just one..when it wears off I feel fatigue..and yesterday was brutal fatigue. I'm going to try and not take anymore. Maybe a percocet for Mondays drain removal.
Ann-I read your description of the walk this morning when I first opened my eyes..which were tearing afterwards. I'd have been a mess if I'd been there. How moving!
I love what we did yesterday! It felt great!
Catey=I PM my email and phone number..as some times I don't check my email regularly. I do not mind if you guysl have my number and can call anytime.
We are going to attempt some fun today. My husband worked out in the yard all day yesterday ..weeding, mowing etc..and between trying to do both our chores and deal with me..needs some fun time to. I think we are going to a movie and maybe somewhere to eat.
Lisa- I just heard on the news that Arizona was at 114 degrees...Jeez! I know your heat is dry and not this muggy we have here..but that sounds a bit hot. What do ya'll do? Stay in? I bet your power bill is high.
Jerri-I'm not sure if you made your trip..I hope you did...but my prayers and thoughts are with you for a easy surgery tomorrow!
-
By the way, if you go to active post=surgeries, before during and after..May surgeries has over 1300 posts! That is so great and I am glad that we found each other...I would have been floundering in the dark..and probaly driving my family and "team" nuts!!
-
Enjoy your date night Cyndie! I would love to do something like that soon.
-
Katie, I sent you aPM with my email. Thanks for doing this.
