melmcbee--thanks for the info.  Good to know that rads didn't do something like melt the plastic. lols  I don't really know what to expect except I will guess that they will try to apply to muscle tissue behind where the breast and tumors use to be.

Ann, Oh and a Happy Birthday to a fellow Gemini sister, mine is just a few days away on the 12th, this evil thing called BC was NOT on my wishlist

Jenn, Hope all is well and you are resting comfortably

AnnBR....Congratulations and Happy Birthday!!! What a great feeling to have those awful drains out...I am so happy for you. :-)

Gowiththeflow...I am going to call the Dr. tomorrow regarding my arm..thanks for suggesting it.  I think physical therapy will help a lot. It's frustrating to feel like I'm making progress and thn something comes up.

Cateyz2, sounds like your drains are hitting the magic number. You'll be crossing that finish line, too! :)

Run4us, I've had that same sensation on my right arm, the side the nodes were taken. It comes and goes so I'm going to mention it to my PS on Wednesday, too. Lets see what they say. Hopefully, it's normal healing pain.

Run4Us and AMBNH, The RO didn't seem overly concerned, just said I needed to get into PT before I start RADS.    apparently, it's not uncommon but I hope we all are better in a few days and no one else ends up with it.

Good Morning!  I hope everyone had a great night sleep!

So, today I have to call and find out from my oncologist if I can try and get in with someone to get port this week with chemo or should I push back chemo a week.  I know he wanted done last week so port site could heal before chemo..but nurses (and some of ya'll) have said that it is possible to do chemo day after port with no issues.  Besides wanting to get this chemo party started--it would be better work/time to start this week for me.  So getting ok from him, but my reg surgeons doesnt come back until tomorrow. Im going to try and fast tonight after 12 in case he can work me in.

Have ya'll been registered with the Cancer Society? They can help with things. I didn't qualify for wigs or anything like that because my insurance pays a good bit.  But, they are giving me a case every month of Ensure for chemo..and when you go in they give  you a plastic bag you get to pick 7 things from 7 diff boxes off the table.  Mostly donated items.  The first time I admit, I had problem with it..smacked of charity and I have big pride..but now that my pay for past month is at 65 %, I got over that.  I picked things like garbage bags, bounce, --things that run by grocery bill up that are non-food.  Anyway, it helped.

Has Sweet Pickle checked back in from Charlotte surgery? I dont know if I missed that are not.

Cateyz2-Those drains are def going to be history!

    AnnBr happy birthday!

I FELT like it was my birthday when I got drains out- how awesome that yours coincided.

Thanks to all for the discussion on healing scars, I am trying to get mine as minimized as possible before I start radiation next week, so I am soaking in all your advice. The mederma didnt cause me any allergies. A woman just wrote on another post to use coconut oil, it was really good for her. I had heard that before as well, will try it.

I hope that everyone has a great and healing Monday.

GoWith-I just talked with onc nurse..she said like you was fine..now just finding out if my surgeon has an opening.

Should I be using cream for scar? Would not the PS be opening it back up anyway?

Sorry, they cut in a different spot for the port.

About a 1.5" spot, then one or two 1/2" spots for me.

Duh, chemo brain.  Yes, you can use cream/oil on your MX scar.  And yes, they will probably open it back up but it doesn't hurt to try and minimize now too.

FYI, when I had my thyroid done, It was opened back up two weeks later once they DX cancer.  It's barely visible now.

Great news!  Was able to finally find another surgeons' (same group) scheduling nurse and she was able to book me for port with MY surgeon on Weds..and they think all is well with using it next day. I am happy I can go ahead and start this chemo Thurs...next to last step in putting alll behind me. Its been feeling never ending.

My hubby is home today with bronchitus..again..relapse..hoping I don't get again (he gave to me the day I came home from MX..I've confined him to one room. lol.

Make him wash his hands constantly.  Glad your surgeon is getting your port in on Wednesday.  Seriously, it's a breeze.  Just sore for a few days, but chemo is totally do-able the next day.

Thanks Catey, I put in a PM..I wasn't sure what to say, but just did request.

My surgeons office just called back, he wants to see me before surgery today.  Which means he was in the office today but his scheduller still on vacation.

I'm getting worried about Sweet Pickle..I hope all is well.

I am anxious to hear from sweetpickle too, but she had a DIEP procedure which is quite invasive and typically you are in the hospital for 3-5 days. If her surgery was Friday, she may still be in the hospital and may not have access to a computer or feel like jumping back on board right now. At least hope that is what's happening! My prayers are with her.
