Sudden Scar Tissue

Options

Hi everyone,

I had a bilateral mastectomy with no reconstruction in December of 2012.  Post surgery, I had a large hematoma where my right breast was and a seroma where my left breast was.  After being drained four times over the course of a month, my right breast stopped refilling with blood.  My left breast was soft, with a small amount of seroma fluid until two weeks ago.  Over the past two weeks, that breast has become very hard.  It is now the size of a baseball that has been cut in half.  I saw my surgeon for a follow-up visit last week and she said it is scar tissue.  I'm massaging it with Vitamin E for ten minutes three times each day.  I can't tell any difference yet.

I'm shocked that something this big and hard could form in two weeks, almost 4 months after my surgery.  Anyone else have a similar experience and any recommendations on how to get rid of it?  Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Julie
