pill alone versus chemo plus pill

Options

Hello Ladies, met with my cancer doctor last week. I had a masectomy with two lumps about 2 cm each, clear margins and no cancer in lymph nodes. It was stage 2 grade 2. She gave me trearment options and seemed to really be pushing chemo and then the pill. I do not want to endure chemo unless I really have to and feel the pill alone is sufficient. Looking for other opions please and thank you.

IDC, 1cm, Stage I, Grade 2, 0/26 nodes, ER+/PR

OncotypeDx test will give you the answer you need. Other factors are Her status, mitotic rate, Ki67, LVI.....all influence decisions. A short term fear (chemo) is much better than a long-term fear (metastatic disease). Oncologists know their cancers but a second opinion doesn't hurt either. Stage 1 cancers can have sneaky aggressiveness within them. No one wants to do chemo, but if it is necessary, then it is doable. There are different regimes too...and most people don't throw up anymore. Anti hormonals work, but you need your oncologist to also do the adjuvantonline business to see the benefits (or not) to doing chemo. While clear nodes are great, as well as hormone +, cancer can by-pass nodes too...why LVI is critical. You also had two lumps on the cusp of stage 1 as well. This is an important decision. I know...because my second breast cancer (contralateral) is small but HAS LVI....and tamoxifen didn't stop it from appearing. (((hugs))))
