I know that the title of this thread is taken directly from the article that's linked, but the title is misleading and factually incorrect.

So before this starts up the whole "Dairy is bad for you!!!" discussion yet again, let me point out that this is just another report on the very same study that has been discussed on this board previously in several other threads.

The culprit is "HIGH FAT DAIRY", not all dairy.  From the article linked above:

"The Kaiser study is the first to separate out the effects of high- and low-fat dairy on women diagnosed with breast cancer....

Total dairy intake had no effect on how the women — who had been diagnosed with stage 1, 2 or 3A invasive breast cancer and most of whom were post-menopausal — fared over the 11.8 years, on average, that the researchers tracked them.

But high-fat dairy, which means whole milk or cream and anything made with them such as cheese and ice cream, did make a difference."

Yes - I so totally agree about the title but I didn't feel I should take the liberty to alter the title.  They make the titles deliberately provoking IMO to stir up readers.  Like bad info- mercials.  I thought the information about 'high-fat' was helpful to clarify some of the dairy discussions here.

Water is bad for you too!!! Everyone who drinks it dies. Surprised

Yes, I don't think these headlines help. cp - perhaps you could summarize the title in your own words? Don't feel bad about taking a liberty. It is less damaging than letting this bit of sensationalism stand. Uncensored headline may decrease respect for research (which in a few cases is a good thing). Also, local papers are ot the most respectable outlets for scientific reseach this complex. But thanks for the heads up anyway.

I think moderator or the author can only change the title. So make a plea for it.

You know, when I saw the title the first thought that came to mind was not the fat content of milk, but the hormones that are fed to cattle to make them produce more.

Grass fed cattle, and organic milk are fine.....

A cow gives milk because she has had a calf. Even in a grass-fed, organically raised cow, there are naturally occurring hormones associated with pregnancy and lactation, and it appears that the hormone content of milk is mainly in the milk fat. I am inclined to think that whether organic or not, low- or no-fat dairy products would have lower hormone levels than full-fat dairy products from the same source.
