Hi Im 63 Diagnosed on routine mamogram on 11th feb.  lumpectomy and SNB on 4th march.   Clear margins Small tumour 1.2cm No LV involvement ;SNB 2 nodes removed 1 positive micromet= 1mm. + ITC.  Had re-excision for level 1 node clearance on 3rd arpril. Further 4 nodes removed all clear. Meeting with oncologist next week. I know will be offered hormone therapy and radiotherapy and likely to be advised that chemo won't confer significant reduced recurrance benefit. Right now I am fit and generally healthy and dont want to worry bout this coming back. Gut tells me to ask for chemo to feel more confident .. am I crazy. Live in UK

You're not crazy this is hard. You should ask for the oncotype test which will give you better information about how beneficial chemo would be. FYI I had a 1.7cm tumor and 2.5mm in the sentinel node. Others were negative. And I wasn't given a choice about the oncotype test, was told I must do chemo. I think it was mostly because of my age (39 at diagnosis) but I am struck by the variation in treatment recommendations that come with such slight differences in the size of tumor. Very hard to know what to do.

    Best of luck,

    Rose
