chemo then mastectomy need advice pls

My mother just done with her chemo. She had her last chemo on 03-29-2013.The sugen is very busy for month of april. My mother is going for mastectomy by the end of May. Its almost two month period between chemo and mastectomy. Is that ok?

I had my last chemo treatment the middle of Nov. 2010 and had my surgery Jan. 2011

My dr. wanted me to wait at least a couple of months to get over chemo before I have surgery. My last chemo was in Feb. and my surgery is in May.

It looks from your mother's profile that hers may be a slow growing cancer(ask your mothers' team if you haven't already done so, whether hers is a highly aggressive cancer or a more slow growing one).



I have a highly aggressive subtype of cancer and that made a difference in wait time between chemo and surgery (or vice versa).



There are so many subtypes of cancer it can get pretty technical, but aggressive vs. slow growing are two categories you might want to ask your mom's MO (or breast surgeon) about.

I am finishing pre-chemo, I was also told that it takes times for the chemo to leave the body AND for the body to rebound from chemo for the surgery. I would not worry, but if you are address your concerns with her MD. Good luck!
