Charz, I've only had the CA27-29, which my onc still does each time I see him.  But here's more info on blood marker tests.     Deanna

My Onc gives me this test every two months. It is said to be somewhere between 80-90% accurate at determining if you're having a cancer recurrence. It also can show false positives and not show when cancer is present. Some Oncs won't use it because it is not perfect. A lot of Oncs perform it on your bloodwork but you don't know it. I prefer as many tools as possible.

    Hi Ladies,

I had a CA 27.29 before Chemo.  It was 19.4.  I was told I wouldn't have another one until after Chemo was complete due to false readings. I just found out today I will have one on my last Chemo treatment..

Has anyone had them throughout Chemo?

    Carla

I didnt know I had the test until one of the ladies at the West Clinic where my ONC is told me. I think it is the CA27.29 test. So is the lower the score the better? diane
