I am preparing for chemo in the next two weeks and am starting the process of wig shopping.

I ordered a few attachable bangs and a halo wig in addition to looking for a real wig to wear most days.

Any experiences with the halo wigs and attachables?

Is it worth it?

I bought the Codi by rene of paris and was absolutely happy with it- it looked like my own hair only better. Also later bought the Tori by rene of paris and liked it too. I tried an assortment of brands and liked the rene of paris the best- great color, not overly full and wiggy looking- well priced and very natural looking. Vogue wigs (online) has a lot of "real people" photos and reviews. Namebrandwigs has great prices and a return policy.

I dreaded the wig thing, but was very pleasently surprised how nice they can be. I bought a halo, but never wore it.

    Best of luck to you!

    Greetings,

I have no experience with wigs. I went wig sopping with 2 of my children yesterday. My daughter was in tears Friday when she found out I was going to lose my hair.

I HATED the wigs. I can't stand my hair on my face, I don't wear a part, I just throw my hair back in a headband (very narrow). There is nothing "like me". I hate hats.

I think this is one of the hardest parts of my journey so far!

I am going to go out and try some scarves to see how I look in them. I do not have my chemo set up yet, am debating to do masectomy first as my margins were not good. I'm on the fence each day figuring out which path to go, re-excise for clear margins, or masectomy.

Anyhow, anyone have a good link for scarf websites? I had one that showed "how to" wrap scarves around your head, a 12w by 72L , and cannot find that link.

I've been reading this board all evening looking for alternatives to wigs or hats with hair. It's not easy!

    Pat

I bought several triangular scarves that tied at the back from the American cancer society website. They were relatively cheap. Also wore knitted hats. Hardly ever wore a wig. I tried the fake bangs with a hat but didn't like it much. Hats were the easiest.

I have a halo without bangs. I put it on with a scarf and it looks good. I fgure I am going to want something light in the warmer months. A scarf and a halo is better than a hot full wig. And I like my wig.....

I bought several scarves from 4women.com they are kind of pricey, but I loved the fact that they came in sizes and all I had to do was slip it on and not worry about tying them. They stayed on and never slipped around. My favourite was the exercise line-they have a bit if stretch. I also bought bangs to wear with them and felt really good about that look. I also had a wig fom Renee that I wore and was pleased with it, although the hair around the nape of the neck matted quite a bit, may have something to do with having to wear it in the winter and was probably rubbing on my coat.

Free Wigs for anyone who wants them.   They are both size large, short and were styled by my hairdresser.  One is a dark brown and kind of spikey and the other is dirty blonde and very soft looking.  Just send me a PM with your address if you would like to have them or know someone who might want them.
