After First Treatment, Scared on L.I.

Options

Hi everyone, I am triple negative BC, no nodes etc. involved, no surgery yet, found an under 2cm lump at 11:00 myself during an 'itch' scratch at upper chest. Wasn't going to make issue of it, glad I did, when biopsy, etcs. showed cancer. I only had one treatment of A/C, with the next day following of Neuralsta shot. I feel like all heck right now. I'm due for this repeating next Weds. I also have R.A. that I had to stop Remicade/Methotrexate for because of this, plus I have 3 herniated discs with severe sciatica in left leg. (My luck, I had lumbar MRI when I found neurosurgeon, after having herniated discs/bad pain walking/limping over 2 yrs. I thought hooray, back surgery!! But again postponed!)  :(  Anyway, I'm thinking the Neuralsta is making my hips feel like butter, I can hardly walk. Does anyone else have this? Also am extremely lightheaded/dizzy.  Question: does this get any better at being tolerable?  I do hope I show strength and positivity that I've been reading around here. I know I'll need it!

BUMP - Hoping to move your question up for you.  I never had chemo so no help there though I have heard it repeated many times that some are helped by Claritin for the pain of the Neulasta shot. Hopefully someone will see this who will be of more help.

lana, we each have an individual experience of chemo.  Mine was awful and I was generally in bed, my friend with a similar diagnosis treated at the same center with basically the same treatment protocol only missed 3 days of work during her entire course of treatment.  There's a wide range of how our bodies react.

A lot of the unpleasant effects of chemo are things that can be helped if you tell your oncologist.   Good luck getting through this.

Lots of people seem to have bone pain from the neulasta shot. Unfortunately I was not one of them, but I believe some got relief from Claritin. You should search neulasta claritin on BCO and see what comes up. It should take you to some threads where this has been discussed.

Because of your other health issues, please don't take anything without calling your oncologist!!!

I'm sure they've dealt with these problems before, and will be able to give you something to take during chemo to help with the problems you have now, but because of your other health issues, please don't mess with OTC drugs without medical permission, OK?  It may or may not be safe for you to take things you read about on this or any other website... and there is no way for any of us to know what it OK for you to take - or even what is normal for you to feel... it's not a one-size fits all disease or treatment, and the best thing to do if you don't feel right is to check with the people who should know - your medical team.

    Good luck!!
