3 yrs out, now have enlarged lymph nodes

3yrs after chemo and bilateral mastectomy, I now have three enlarged lymph nodes under my armpit. My dr seemed concerned and wants them removed ASAP. Has anyone else experienced this?

Jchia - Is it possible for you to have a needle biopsy of the nodes, rather then removal? Hoping for the benign results!

From what I have read, you can get a false positive with the needle biopsy, which why I guess dr wants them removed.

Stage 2, triple negative. I've been going every three months for ultrasounds as well, but now they have changed and another appeared.

They never did a biopsy with mine they could tell from the ultrasound. Also my lymph nodes were very big like a small golf ball.

I am less than 3 months out of treatment. I now have regional recurrence in nodes in my neck, under the sternum and a shadow on my lung. I had an ultrasound for the nodes in my neck and an immediate needle biopsy - result triple negative bc. CT scan found the other issues. My Doc explained that nodes needs to be larger than 1 cm to be considered abnormal. Smaller "iffy" nodes will be monitored through scans. The shadow on the lung may be scarring from radiotherapy or could be metastatic cancer to the lung (scary...). We won't know which until another CT is done in 3 months - if the shadow has changed size ( larger cos cancer has grown or smaller cos chemo has worked on it, it will be metastatic. If the size is the same, it will be scarring...). The Doc has put me on oral Cytoxan ( think that's the right name) - two weeks on and one week off...

I think that if the nodes were under the arm, they would have been removed, since it is only slightly bigger op than open node biopsy. The neck is obviously more complex than under the arm, so they are not so quick to operate???

I have been told that there are a number of possible treatments, so stay positive - the fight continues....

I hope that your diagnosis is negative, but there are options if it isn't...
