Magic cream gave me relief after IORT

I had intraoperative radiation during my LX and was doing fine until about 10 days post-op when I suddenly started having skin issues. It felt like a pretty serious sunburn even though my skin was not red. I went around the house nude from the waist up for at least a week because I could not stand to have anything touch my skin. My RO gave me gel pads. I kept them in the refrigerator and they felt good for a little while, but when they got warm they started to sting.

I saw my GYN a few days later and was complaining about it. Another MD in her practice had radiation or had a patient who had radiation and my GYN was familiar with a cream the other MD used. She gave me a prescription for it and it has made all the difference in the world with my skin.

This cream comes from a compounding pharmacy. The label reads Benzo/Lido/Tetracaine (unscented) 40%/6%/4%. It has really soothed my painful, sore skin and after a few days of use I am able to wear clothes with little pain. I can tell my skin is getting better every day. It has made life much more manageable. If you are having painful skin after radiation, you may want to discuss it with your MD and see about getting a prescription.
