IBC after mastectomy??

Hi all. I had a BMX on March 4th. Since then, the area below my incision on my left breast (the side with the largest tumor) has had an orange peel look to it. IBC was never a part of my original diagnosis, although I did have some nipple involvement. I cannot imagine that IBC would "show up" the day after my surgery, but I also don't know why else I would have orange peel skin. Any ideas? Looking for peace of mind, really. :) thanks.

    Hi, nicky, sorry you're worried!

After my MX, during my radiation, I noticed some orange peely type texture around my scar and asked my RO about it.  He said it was just swelling and inflammation from the radiation.  Since then, when I have some swelling from mild lymphedema in my chest I have the same effect around my scar.  No redness, rash, bruising, or itching, though, which would be signals for dermal lymphatic invasion.

I would guess that swelling and inflammation from the MX is responsible for yours, too, but I would sure ask my doc about it.

Blessings and best wishes for a healthy recovery!
