My husband noticed a color change in his right areola within 1 week.  It is the entire areola and is purplish black, nipple is normal.   He had a mammogram with no findings of cancer, yesterday he went in for a punch biopsy.  Does anyone know how long that takes.  The surgeon who did the biopsy, said he probably has a skin disorder and that he has never seen a breast? chest? with my husband symptoms. Of course I have been on every possible search engine and site looking for answers.  I haven't found any skin disorders beside melinoma that causes skin color changes, IBC kinda has some of the symptoms but not them all.  I feel helpless that I can't do something.  Any feedback, ideas, suggestions would be greatly apearricated.(sp)

My punch biopsy took 4 days before I heard my diagnosis of invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC).

My nipple had turned inward a little and was gray. I've never heard what your describing and I'm not a doctor. I would suggest seeking out a breast surgeon in your area and get an opinion. The earlier it's caught the better. Mine was misdiagnosed and went for several years. By the time my family doctor saw it again it was stage 3a and the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes. I had a mastectomy with lymph node dissection. I then had 6 rounds of aggressive chemo and then 25 rounds of radiation.

I'm doing well. Although its not a cure, its given me many years ahead.

Get your husband to a breast surgeon. They are the ones to give you the right answer. Ask around and see what surgeons name keeps coming up in a positive light.

Please reply if you need more information.

I wish we could give you more information.  I did not have any color change, only nipple retraction and a lump under the areola.

Thank You both for replying.  Waiting has always been the hardest thing, once we have the answer we will be able to move on from there.
