Recurrence in "non-cancer" breast????

I'm curious if anyone has had a relapse.?  I went to my Rad Onc Friday for my final visit and mentioned to her that i've had some discharge and stains in my bra's on the non-cancer breast.  She decided to call my surgeon to see what he thought and when she came back she didn't say if she spoke to him but had made me an appointment for Weds of this week.  I find the whole thing rather quick and strange.  Not sure if I should be nervous or not - I feel like even if it is something we can treat it and it will be fine, I'm just so not wanting to go through all this again this soon after.

Kayce, when bc presents in the opposite (non-bc) breast, most of the time it's considered a new bc, rather than a recurrence.  Hopefully, that's not what's going on with you, but anything that makes us think our bc could be back is very scary.

Did you have an MRI when you were initially dx'd?  If you did, I would think it would be highly unlikely that you'd have something come up less than a year and a half from your initial dx.  It seems like it would have been there back in 2011.

And the quick reaction is pretty typical once we've had bc.  They just take every potential little thing a lot more seriously from the get-go.  I'm guessing that's the reason they're reacting so quickly.  Sometimes I think it's for our benefit, but more often I think it's their desire to cover themselves re. liability.

Deanna I did have an mri t hat didn't show anything in the other breast but there was a question of a possibility of a problem because of a possible lump. I don't know what to think this time around..last time I knew in my gut it was cancer this time I go back and forth.....

They are always super cautious with us after we had BC one time. And I am happy for that. Take a deep breath and just go to the appointment. You don't need to be mentally prepared, it already is what it is. I just went through what you are going through and it turned out benign. I tend to think that we can trust our gut feelings on these things. I also knew the first time that it was cancer whilst I was much calmer for the appointment after the biopsy that turned out to be benign. Keep us posted.

Saw the surgeon and I have an appointment for a histogram next Thursday. He's about as concerned as I am and sad if it shows something we just go in and take out then he said we'll talk about it if we have to...
