Dragon Boat Races and the Purple Happy Button team!!
Hello everyone,
I would like to tell you about a project we are involved in to help raise money for cansupport, a charity that helps patients during treatment. They have helped us every step of the way , during the last 6 months i was in chemo treatment.
No one should have to worry about money issues during treatment, is their policy. Here is their website..
http://www.cedars.ca/cedars/en/cansupport/who_we_are
Each year they have a dragon boat race to raise money. It has become a popular event here in montreal. Each team is responsible for raising 12,500$ by september 1st.

We are , The Purple Happy Button Team. Most of you are aware of my love of the color purple... i also have a purple dot , tatooed on my left wrist... i use it in meditation and as a way to feel better...Anyone who came to chemo with me would put a purple happy button on their wrist as well... even other patients and nurses got into it!
So...what "is" the purple happy button? Imagine the "easy button" from staples (bureau en gros) and everytime you push it... something that makes you giggle and smile pops up! Like... puppies.. or a giggling baby... or whatever gives you warm happy fuzzy feelings.
WHAT IS DRAGON BOAT RACING?
Dragon Boat racing originated in Southern China and started gaining popularity in North America in the 1970s. It is the fastest growing water sport in the world. Each boat holds 20 paddlers, 1 steer person, and one drummer (who sits on the front of the boat facing the crew and keeps the beat). The challenge of dragon boat racing lies in the synchronization of the paddlers strokes, not in the paddlers’ strength. All 20 paddlers, regardless of experience or skill level, paddle together for the dragon boat to gain momentum and glide through the water. It is for this reason that dragon boat racing has become increasingly popular as a corporate team building sport and as a fundraiser.
20 paddlers ... a drummer (me) and a steersperson (my husband)

We also have letters for corporations that would like to sponsor the team, pls email me at celine@2012info.ca and i will send it to you.
Cancer has affected so many of us... 1 in 9 women in canada will get breast cancer...
I have never supported any charity that raised money for research. Following the money trail, always leads to dead ends, so many products that have the pink ribbon claiming to be giving money to research but... i dont trust them
This charity helps people, in so many ways...their volunteers work hard everyday to help patients and their families...
Many have helped us through hard times in the past, so we ask you today...to help us help the ones who help others
If you have any questions please dont hesitate to ask...and...if you are in montreal or surrounding areas and wish to join us on the boat as a paddler... there are 7 places left...just email me and i will set up the registration.
Thank you
Celine
