@ndroby.....thank you so much for all of you help and I even got a few laughs out of your story! You actually brought up some points that I have not even thought about. I agree bigger is better with in reason. I think since I have to go through this again I should go bigger! LOL Thanks again and I hope your weekend is going well!
@Voilet 1 thanks for telling me about Whippetmom and the sizing forum. I took your advice and posted on there a few minutes ago! I feel so stupid about this. Last time all I had to do was decided if I wanted saline or silicone. Of course the sizing was done during the weekly saline injections of the expander's. Anyway thanks again.
@lilithmoon thanks for the reply! I'm not sure what the 410's are so now I need to find out all I can about them and so many others. I am so happy that you found what worked best for you. I can only pray that I have the same result. I hope all stays well with you!
Thanks again everyone and have a wonderful Sunday!

Hi Kat - here's a site that has info on the Natrelle 410's and others.
http://www.cohesiveimplants.com/
They are the most popular and have been used for years in Europe. Your PS will need to be up to speed on the technical aspects of these implants as they have been only recently approved her in the U.S. Make sure you discuss this with your PS. I had extra Strattice put on the upper pole - and he redid my pocket to fit the new implant. Best to you~

@Lilithmoon thanks for the website I spend most of the afternoon reading. I feel like I am so much more infromed than I was before. I hope all continues to go well with you!
Thanks again

-
Momto7 I'm happy things are going well for you I hope it continues!
-
Hi Carey, I have the same expanders and am filled to 550 cc as well. Just had my dr appt with ps and will be planning for exchange in nov. expanders felt huge after my last fill but have settled down a bit. I still feel that it's too much in my armpits but ps said he will take care of it with the exchange. Do you know what type of implant you want. I keep going back and forth. I'm leaning toward round silicon right now.

Mely19,
yesterday I had another fill and Im up too 550cc and am scheduled for one more to overfill to 600cc next thursday
Asked my PS what type of implant he plans in using and hes thinking the allergan style 20 silicone round on me instead of the 410 gummy because of my job. I do alot of heaving lifting, twisting and reaching and the 410 can rotate whereas the rounds dont matter.
What are your reasons for going with rounds?
-
Just wanted to add a little of my own personal input. I've had the 410 anatomicals in now for 8 weeks. According to my PS, they rotate if the pocket isn't perfectly set for them. He's been using them in the clinical trial for years. I let them "sit" for 4 weeks after my exchange, then he said to start massaging them and moving them around daily to avoid capsular contraction through scar tissue. I'm really massaging these things and my scars and overall appearance are improving weekly. I have to say that I was quite horrified by my appearance just after the exchange, but now I'm pleased with them. The way I'm moving them around, I know they will never rotate from any activity I do and I'm pretty active. I'm bonding with them and they're becoming like a part of me. I took pics at 1 week, 2 weeks, and 4 weeks after exchange. I'll take another pic soon and then post the progression on the photo board. I'm getting nipple reconstruction on 10/29! It will be one year from my mastectomy. I had no idea what a reconstruction journey this was going to be when I was diagnosed.
-
Nesw and/or any other ladies with the tear drops, how do you feel about the "movement" of them. I know that the tear drops have to have a perfect pocket to avoid rotating. So being very secure along with the gel also being firmer, I don't seem them moving much. I love the benefits of the tear drops but I don't want to feel like my new breast or Velcro-ed on my chest. I don't want them to be bouncing around with every moment I make but I would like some giggle at times. What are your thoughts.
-
I think the worst aspect of this is the numbness on most of my uniMxbreast, but there is some movement and jiggle. I had mine put in under the skin and not the muscle and I'm sure that makes a difference. I wouldn't say it feels totally natural - and that makes it slightly hard to integrate, even though it looks great.
-
Yes the numbness is just really weird. I have regained sum feeling around the outer edges of my tissue expanders that I hope will get better with more time. I am so undecided with what implants to get , I see my plastic surgeon in a week so hopefully she can help me finally choose.
-
I just had my second to last fill today, and I am hoping to have my exchange to teardrop implants right after Thanksgiving. I am hoping to be okay by xmas? I am not planning to go very big. I was a good size 34B before, and I would like to stay in that range. I am hoping that keeping the implants on the smaller side will keep them from interfering to much in my active live style. I like to exercise, but not extreme. Just to stay fit, and maintain weight. My PS said he will use fat grafting, and I guess nipples somewhere down the line. I just saw something about using alloderm to form nipples. Anybody ever heard of this?
-
@goldie4040 That is pretty interesting With all my countless hours of research I haven't came across alloderm for nipples , but that isn't to say its not possible. I jus read the other day that a part of the earlobe can be used to reconstruct a nipple. I had a nipple sparring, I very much wanted to keep that part of me , so that is one decision I don't have to consider luckly.
-
Trina, I would have loved to have kept my nipples, but my path report showed dcis with possibility of invasion, and they said they had to go. I am posting a link below where I saw the pics of the alloderm nipples.

Did you have your recon yet, and did you use gummy bears?
-
My implant exchange date is Nov 15. I really like all the added benefits of the gummy but I am jus really concerned that I will be disappointed because they won't " move" as much as silicone rounds will.
-
Looked at the link and that is very interesting up until now I only knew of alloderm being used to support the implant internally.
-
Trina, I know what you mean. I got to feel both kinds of implants at the PS office. First of all, have you ever felt an expander? Geez. My husband said it's a torture device, and he is right. Granted the silicone round was soft and squishy, but you could see the ripples in it while holding it in my hand, and the gummy didn't have any. Yes, the gummy seemed a little harder, but also the shell is rough, and I think that made it seems harder too, even though it might not be so bad with soft skin over it. I am in my late 50's and I just want to look good in my clothes again. My husband might just be saying this to make me feel better, but he doesn't care what they feel like as long as I am happy with how they look.
-
Question for you gals that have had gummy bears implanted already. Can you move them around enough to wear a push up bra, etc. I would just like them soft enough that when my grandbaby puts his head on my chest he will feel comfortable to him, or I can hug somebody without being uptight that I feel hard. Right now when somebody comes to hug me I kind of turn to the side. I don't want to gross anybody out.
-
Oh, I know expanders I've had them since March. My issue is that I am 26 I want to look good in clothes and still have them function similar to regular breast.
I was at a pool this summer and I was jumping up and down in the pool , my friend said I was giving the young guys there a show. I said if anything they are probably looking in aww wondering why her chest isn't moving as she jumps. We both laughed but that's the thing. My tissue expanders look good they just don't move. I know any implant will be softer than expanders but it is natural to have some movement. So while in a bikini and jogging there is suppose to be some jiggle. -
Goldie,
I am 3weeks post exchange and I'm wearing a sports bra these next few weeks. Once the incisions heal and implants settle, I'll wear a regular bra. I have such nice cleavage that I don't need a push up bra. I had no cleavage before the mastectomy.

And I will be getting fat grafts so that should take care of rippling if I decide to go with rounds. The gummies are suppose to have less rippling and a lower chance of capsular contracture, but I couldn't live with them not moving. I wonder if the fat grafts could help with movement because it will be tissue surrounding the implant that can move, this is one of the questions I can't wait to ask my plastic surgeon. If additional fat surrounding the implant will help then I can get the gummies
-
Trina, first let me say how sorry I am that you are going through this at such a young age. Of course you want to feel soft and feminine. I know fat grafting will help with the look, but I don't know about the softness and movement. If you go with the round softer silicone, and he fat grafts to hide any rippling then you should be plenty soft.
At my age I will be grateful to have something to put in a bra. Actually, with the expanders big enough right now I kind of like just throwing on a tshirt and not worrying about a bra. But, I know I will not like that forever.
Nancy, that is great. I really don't run around wearing push up bras now, so don't know why I would care after surgery. I guess I was just trying to get a feel for how soft, or hard the gummies would feel, and if they moved around enough to be manipulated like real breasts. How many cc's are your gummies?
Also, did you have iron bra at all during your whole expansion process, and if you did, is it gone now?
-
Goldie,
I have 580s they don't move much now. Iron bra feeling is better.
Nancy -
Thank you Goldie. I like to think n hope that I'm going thru my toughest times at an early age in hopes that I will have a good life after all this. The past year is has been a whirlwind , I really think I could have a lifetime story based on jus the las 12 months of my life. I'm still alive tho so everyday is a chance to redo.
-
Trina, that's a beautiful outlook. I hope there will be tremendous beauty and good in your long life. I didn't need fat grafting with my 410s. In fact, at nipple reconstruction my PS will do some liposuction of the upper outer areas. I originally had nipple sparing but post-surgical pathology found microinvasion beneath my nipple with no clear margins, and the nipples were removed in my second surgery. My implants are placed under the muscle. I have great cleavage but my breasts don't jiggle at all and I can run without a bra. I can move them around and squeeze them but they are quite firm compared to actual breasts. They are way softer than those TE chunks of granite though.
-
Thank you Nesw, sorry your nipples had to go , but it sounds like you had great results with your implants . I can't wait til my expanders are out. When was your exchange ?
-
My exchange was mid July. I was active and sleeping on my side by week 4. I feel quite comfortable with fairly vigorous daily massaging. Nipples are coming end of October but I don't yet know what procedure will be used.
