Alternative treatment/therapies in Toronto

Hello all,



New to this discussion board, and this would be my first post, so bear with me.

My significant other was diagnosed back in January with Stage 2, Category 3 BC. She had a lumpectomy a month ago, along with a battery of other tests (ultrasound, MRI, CT Scan). The tests indicated that there wasn't any cancer developing elsewhere, other than some tiny spots in her lymph vessels.

Following the results of her pathology, her medical team immediately scheduled her for hormonal therapy (Tamoxifen), radiation, and chemo. She had met with her radiation onco today, and is scheduled to start that in two weeks. We meet with her main onco tomorrow morning, with chemo scheduled to begin in two weeks. All of this, by the way, and we have not yet received the results of her Onco test.

I've been doing a ton of research in the past week or two on the effects/results/costs/benefits of both radiation and chemo, and to be honest, I'm afraid. I don't want her to be hammered with rads and injected with chemicals. It just doesn't seem to make any sense to me to inject someone with chemicals and hammer them with radiation, both of which will deplete her immune system, destroy healthy cells, and seemingly create greater problems later on.

I've done a fair amount of research into alternative treatments/therapies, and it's a path we'd definitely like to explore.

Does anyone on this board know of any alternative therapy/treatment doctors or centres in the Toronto area? If you could let me know, that would be a huge help.

Are you sure they are planning to start rads and chemo at the same time? That sounds quite odd.

Since her cancer is grade 3, she is likely to benefit a great deal from chemo.

I am sorru you are both going through this, and I am sorry I do not have any specific info for Toronto.
