Brain Mets

Options

Can someone tell me the symptoms of brain mets. I've been having lightheadedness for a few weeks, along with very high blood pressure. The internist wants me to have an MRI to rule out brain mets.

Are dizziness/vertigo/lightheadedness symptoms?

Yes, those could be symptoms.  But they could also be symptoms of many other things including something as simple as anemia.  High blood pressure itself can cause those symptoms.  So don't assume the worst.

Thanks Luv: I'm thinking it might just be a response to new BP meds. I was on Diovan; then went off due to the expense; then tried Losartan and had increases heart palps and vertigo. Now on Adacan; still vertigo. My cardio said to get a CT or an MRI. I'm settling for the CT as it is less expensive and takes a shorter time. My internist insists on an MRI. I hate when doctors disagree; it is really hard on us (the patients) today the internist was talking about all the negative aspects as I was doing my BP. Of course it rose: to 180/110.  A few minutes before it had been 150/90.  And he says: Well, just take another pill - don't worry abou it. No talk about how to relieve stress when it occurs. I am so disappointed in his attitude.

A friend of mine was having a lot of issues with her BP medicine (she has high BP pressure as a result of an inherited kidney disease).  She had all the symptoms you are describing.  I really think they this is an issue of being overly cautious. Hang in there!

Thanks Kathleen:  I think you are right! I called Astra-Seneca, who makes Atacand, and they said dizziness is the reason most people give for going off the drug--
