3 doctors have told me I do not have IBC. I had an us done and they called it cellulitis of the breast! Which is the same symptoms as IBC. My breast is very red and hurts to touch it. The skin started peeling in a spot and looked like what they thought would be an abscess but it is not. This was confirmed by ultrasound. However it is not responding to antibiotics. My nipple is even inverted. However it can still be erect if cold. Does this sound like IBC?

Have them do a punch biopsy.  That way you know for sure.

That's what I would be persuing too.

The chances are, it is going to be cellulitis, but you can't live with that awful "What if!".

You need to know you did everything possible to get a difinitive answer.

    Take care, let us know!

Mommyrach I'm sorry your going through this & know this is very scary for you. On the weekends things are quieter here. I don't have IBC but know this is a rare type of BC. It may take till Monday for someone to comment. With that said I have read some on IBC. After a round or 2 of Antibiotics without healing I would push for a biopsy. I say 2 x's on antibiotics as I would hope a second round would be a different kind as some skin infections (cellulitis) may not respond to the first Antibiotic. As a second line of opinion I would look into finding a Comprehensive Breast Center if you have one near you. IBC is not seen as often & not all Dr's are familiar or have seen it. If I remember correctly a punch biopsy is how this should be biopsied. I hope this helps & I hope someone comes along soon to give some more advice. Don't give up if you feel your not getting better. I know cellulitis takes time to heal but you really should see healing within a week on antibiotics.

Good news! I went back to the dr this morning and she was able to drain tons of pus from my breast. I'm pretty sure that means it isn't IBC right?
