Let's stop "fighting" cancer!!

It seems that every obituary or commentary on cancer refers to the patient's lost battle with cancer.  Suppose it said -- "Suzi Q sucumbed to breast cancer after all the medical treatments available at this time failed her. "   People don't "lose their battle"  that would assume they had a chance to win.  Medicine has failed to find a cure.

I wish the lingo would stop making it seem as though if a patient just fought harder she might win.   I am not a warrior, I am a person with a disease that doctors treat and that research should be working to eliminate.  No matter how hard I try, follow all medical advice, exercise, don't drink, take my medicine as directed, I could still die of this disease.  And if I do I don't want it said that "she lost her battle."   I would rather it said "treatment failed" which would be the truth.
