My mom had a biospy of her liver last week, and we met with the doctor today and said it was cancer. He said it was stage 4 triple negative. She was breast cancer free for about 1.5 year. So today we had the blow of it in the liver and stage 4 with no cure. We are needing to make a decision ASAP on where to go. We want to go to the best place, but we do not have a clue. ( We are school teachers, not doctors). We are debating between MD Anderson in Houston and Cancer Center Treatment of America.  We have heard mixed reviews of both.....We are from a small town in Kansas so we are limited, but still want to go to the best place possible. We are so overloaded and lost at this point, any advice we would love to hear. This is alot to take in, in one day.

I'm so sorry you are both dealing with this diagnosis.  I was originally diagnosed triple negative and still post here on the triple negative forums.  I would like to recommend that you also inquire about this on the tnbcfoundation.org site as there are many women there who are stage 4 and there is also a section on the site with recommendations for oncologists who specialize in triple negative in each region of the US. Both of these sites have been very valuable resources for me. One of the members of that site helped me in getting an appointment for a second opinion at one of the larger hospitals with triple negative specialists.  There is a woman on there right now who is NED after treatment for lung and liver mets.  I wish you strength and hope you get some good input from others who have been to some of the larger cancer centers like MD Anderson.

Sorry im not sure where to post this so I will try here because I am tn and possible bone mets.I have read so many posts about mets and it seems to me that a lot of people were dx with bones brain liver lungs mets but hadnt had it in stages but rather multiple mets were found after a routine scan or test does one actually start out with mets all over? I kinda thought it makes its way by starting in say the bones first then eventually getting to the other organs but how does a person get dx with multiple areas without even knowing it was growing in there?
