Confused!

I'm not sure about this process thus far.  I noticed a large pink area on my left breast in early Jan. At first I thought I bumped myself and used some creams that did not change the red area at all.  I had an appt at my gyno for another reason and mentioned the red spot.  She ordered a mamo and sono and also set up appt with a surgeon.  The radiologist said the spot was skin related , there was no bump, lump or skin thickening.  I was going to cancel the surgeon appt and see a dermatologist.  Gyno said keep surgeon appt which I did.  He didnt detect any lumps either but was going to do a punch biospy.  I said a I had a dermatogist so he scheduled appt with her.  I had the biospy and am awaiting the results.  She wasnt sure what it is but seemed to think it wasn't serious.  She did say the lab may request a deeper biospy.

My question is... Is it possible that my only sympton would be this large red area that doesnt itch, ooze or change size,  only the color changes some.  Would else do I need to do?  Does mamo/sono always

detect this disease?

pajudiann, welcome to Breastcancer.org. We're sorry that you're dealing with this worry. You'll know much more when you get the results of your biopsy, and in the meantime try to keep busy and engaged with other things.

You'll find much more information about IBC at the Inflammatory Breast Cancer section of the main Breastcancer.org site. Just click the link to go there.

Please post again with an update, and of course with any questions for this wonderful community!

Hi pajudiann, Bon is right in what she said. I'm one of very few that only had one symptom of IBC...a slight blotchiness on top of my right breast.    Many doctors tell women they must have ALL signs and symptoms and that is not correct. I'm living proof of that. I would insist on skin biopsy (I had 2) and a punch biopsy in areas that you feel are affected.
