Lands End swim shirt
Lands end is selling a swim shirt - it is a crew neck long sleeved shirt that you can wear in the water. You can wear it over a suit/suit top or on its own. I'm always a little self concious about gapping, sagging etc with the prosethics so I thought this might help. I'll post a review after I get it (and get a chance to use it!).

Yes, please do. I saw it also and am considering it because I burn to a crisp in almost no time. It would be easier to wear a shirt than douse myself with sunscreen.

Speaking of Land's End, how are their mastectomy suits?
-
I have several Lands End bathing suits (bought mostly on clearance) and I really like them. They hold the prosthetics in place and my friends say no one could tell that I was wearing them. They are very structured so there's no chance of any "fallout".
-
Michelle, thanks! Now if I can only get their customer service people to tell me where they hide the size 4 ones.
-
Good point! Those of us who are 'leaner' still need to have what fits us.
They also will not deal/work with VA to get suits for women Veterans. Soo sad!

Momine - I am not sure they have size 4 mastectomy suits. I think the smallest I could find is a 6.
-
Michelle, yes, after some back and forth with their customer service, that seems to be the case. All they have in a 4 are tankinis, which do not work for me (ugly belly). I am glad I checked the size, because normally I take a bigger size, but I remember having ordered from them before and drowning in my normal size. That is cool for a T, but doesn't work so well in a swimsuit.
I found, though, a British company that makes nice and reasonably priced suits with pockets, so I may try them instead.
Weird though, since I am not a particularly small person.
Thanks for your help.

There are places that sell swim shirts.... They are also known as "rash shirts" that surfers wear and can be found in sporting goods stores. I bought one short sleeve one and one long sleeve one at Costco for $40 for both of them; both have at least 50 UV ray protection. Costco had them for kids, men and women. Athleta also sells swim shirts/rash shirts , too.

Marks and Spencer . com in the UK do a good swimsuit and also so do nicola jane - google them both are online

Hi Melrose,
These are not rash guards which I've found to be a little heavier and a snugger fit to the body than what this t-shirt looks like. I used a rash guard after rads which helped but this would have provided more coverage than the one I had while being cooler.
Re: the mx suits from LE. i ordered a tankini top. I only wear tankinis becasue they flatter my midsection while providing easy in/out with a wet bathing suit for using the facilities at our commuity pool. I'll let you know how it works. I read last year that they way they re-designed them for 2012 was not great, e.g. the opening were in a weird spot etc. so I didn't order one. I had a tough time finding one last year so I just ordered one for this year. Figured I can return it if necessary. I wish they offered more tankini options for mx.

Hi Annie62- Can't wait to hear your reviews of the Lands End swim shirt!!!! Would love to know what you think of that shirt. If I find any other possible sources of swim shirts, I'll let you know.
-
Didn't know that about the VA, Kicks. Bummer. They do no LE or no suits? Interesting since that's where my care is.
-
ok, so I received the shirt and I like it. It's a nice thin material so I don't think it will be overly hot. I tried it on with nothing underneath and with a suit and it worked well. Haven't worn it in the water yet (expecting flurries today), but maybe I'll wear it in the shower and let you know how it goes.
I also got a mastectomy tankini top for LE. It was the Aquaterrra top. Even the non-mx looks slightly higher cut so I figured it would work. But unfortunately it gaps away from the body enought to show my entire chest/scars. Sigh. And the top was the correct size for me. So I exchanged it for the beach living mx adjustable tankini top. We'll see if that is any better.
Right now my old suit (also a LE) is a halter that I had pockets sewn into and that doesn't gap. So I may got that route again. Stay tuned.

Do they come up high enough on chest to cover recent surgical scars?

The second Lands End mastectomy tankini top I ordered is a success. It's the Beach Living adjustable tankini top. It has adjustable shoulder straps and you can tighen or loosen the bodice down the middle. It sits properly so that when I lean over it doesn't gap away from the body. It comes up pretty high and covers my scars. The cups have a liner in them that gives them a little shape and smoothness. It looked good with a bath poofy inside of it.
The openings in the cups is at the top but I didn't have a problem with the form showing or getting it in.

Hi I was just wondering how the LE tank looked w/o any foobs. Just finished rad, two weeks ago and am stressing over a bathing suit top.
