treatment for triple HER 2 negative

Options

Can't seem to get a straight answer from three different oncologists as to whether I should be going through

AC X4 every two weeks followed by Taxolx4  OR using TC (taxatere) every three weeks X 4.  Is it really a 'toss up'  I had a small tumore 1.2 clear margins for 1cm and no lymph nodes involved.  The cancer is a form of ductal carcinoma called metaplastic and there just isn't that much information out there.  The three well respected oncologist each suggest something different. Anyone out there with similar situation.  Just can't figure out what to do...AND I want to do cold cap therapy.  thanks and thanks to everyone for beingthere to help each other.  indi

    Hi Indi,

I'm assuming you are triple negative based on the topic thread. I am also TN with no lymph node involvement but my tumor was 3.2 cm. The first oncologist presented two options and let me choose. It was either TAC every 3weeks x6 or ACx4 followed by Tx4 every 3 weeks. These were all the same drugs but TAC is all 3at the same time which I was told to be more toxic so i started with AC ->T every 3 weeks. We choose taxotere vs taxol for the "T" part for better neuropathy SE. Then I seeked a second opinion because I wasn't happy with this drs chair side manners and the next doctor agreed that I was on the right treatment but suggested doing it dose dense which was every 2 weeks because there was some studies that showed it was slightly more effective for TN subset of BC. I did some research and found it and switched to every 2 weeks after my 3rd AC treatment. So yes there are different options out there. You just have to decide which one you will be comfortable with. Dose dense is more aggressive and intense and the first doc didnt think the slight effectiveness was worth the harsh chemo treatment but I felt otherwise. I have family history so I wanted to be on the plane that had the best track record no matter how bumpy the ride was.

What is cold cap?? I'm scheduled for chemo to start 4/16 for my rt. triple neg. side, then hormones for my left triple pos side, plus rads for rt.bc of a lymph node on rt.& my age(43). With all of these being fully discussed, I've still never heard mention of" cold cap!"
