I have done so much research and after seeing the 5 year clinical trial on Proton Therapy at Loma Linda U. for several types of breast cancer I decided to find a clinical trial for early breast cancer. There is one recruiting right now at MD Anderson. I applied, went for a consult and have been accepted. My proton therapy treatment is March 4-8 twice a day and is a partial breast proton therapy post lumpectomy. Anyone else in this trial at MD Anderson or anyone who was in the Loma Linda clinical trial have any information to share?

    Hi Ginasmom

Did you have any treatment for your DCIS? I cannot tell from your post. I just see that it was Stage 0 Grade 1 and very small. You can apply for the same trial I am in if you need treatment. Hope not.

    Hi Toziegirl,

I am researching proto treatment for my 43 yr. old niece who recently had a 2nd lumpectomy for dcis, the first last year. The area was still small and low grade. Actually the recurrence was removed during the biopsy and the pathology report after the surgery showed nothing, clear margins, etc. Since she is afraid of this happening again, she wants to do radiation this time and has consulted with ucla, but then we heard of this therapy. While she lives close to Loma Linda, we read that md Anderson has some type of pencil targeting. Any info you can share re your experience in clinical trial would be most appreciated. She is also wondering about cosmetic effect.

Thank you, and I hope you are doing well!
