MOM doing well w/ BMX!! :)

Hi all,

My mom had her BMX on Valentine's Day! What an anniversary day right?

Turns out tumor quite a bit bigger than less than 1cm which is what u/s showed, it was 5.3cm and also hiding 4 other types of nastiness including LCIS, DCIS, ALH, and I forgot the other(!) but more importantly--- on the prophylactic (spelling!) side- she also had the ALH & LCIS just waiting to turn into the ILC.... now she has 1% chance of that according to her surgeon. YAY!

Anyhow, aside from a complication the first night of her surgery- she had a hematoma and had to go back in for surgery next day to remove the blood clot etc, still she was home less than 36hrs after her BMX, and she has really had  no pain, some slight discomfort but she has been amazed at how well she has done. The Surgeon was happy with her healing progress at the post-op visit today.  She even got 1/4 drains removed :)

We did learn that she will need radiation because of tumor size...

but "we" are going forward knowing that everything has been done to eradicate cancer and prevent recurrance.

Just wanted to thank this board and all you lovely ladies on it, we have gathered so much knowledge here and it all  has really helped so much!  We appreciate all of you :)

Finally, for now, Mom is just focusing on healing from this surgery and maybe in a couple of weeks will meet with an Oncologist....

Thanks and Hugs to all :):)

Chasingdreams, so glad to hear your Mother is doing so well.  She definitely made the right choice of surgery.

Gentle hugs to her, and to you for being there for her through this.

Wishing you and yours all the very best for the future!

Chasing, I had missed your post, but wanted to say that I had exactly the same experience. The prophy side turned out to have LCIS and ALH. This was after every kind of imaging had declared that breast clear and several docs had advised me to leave it be (one surgeon refused outright to remove it, on the grounds that it was "healthy").

I wish your mother continued good health and an easy time with the remainder of her treatment.
