Learner, many women here have used Dr. Lagios. I'm sure that you will get some responses but quite a number of the women who've used Dr. Lagios have moved on and are no longer posting.
If you do a search (use the Search button on the left of the screen) and put in Dr. Lagio's name under "keywords", you'll find all the posts where he is mentioned and you'll be able to read about everyone's experiences with him. As far as I know, everyone who had gone to Dr. Lagios for a second opinion has been very pleased.

Learner,
I just posted this for someone else who asked and then saw your post, so I will repost:
When my post lumpectomy pathology report came back, they said I did NOT get clean margins and were recommending a mastectomy. I got a 2nd opinion from Dr. Michael Lagios, who is a world renowned DCIS expert and pathologist, with a consulting service that anyone can use.
He disagreed with the local pathologists and said I DID get good margins. Additionally, he used the Van Nuys Prognostic Index to calculate my risk of recurrence WITHOUT radiation as only 4 percent. Since radiation can only be done once, I wanted to save it in case I ever got invasive breast cancer.
He also explained that the most recent studies show that the abolute risk reduction of tamoxifen is NOT impressive, at best 2 percent. Because of this, I opted out of RADS and tamoxifen, concentrating on other more natural, less toxic ways of risk reduction.
Dr. Lagios is a sought after speaker who has written many of the DCIS textbooks. He has been extensively involved in DCIS study for the last 30 years. In addition to being knowledgeable, he is very kind and easy to talk to. I personally know and communicate regularly with many women who have gotten a 2nd opinion from him and are very glad they did.
You can also read more about the role Dr. Lagios played in my DCIS story or get more info about him from my website: dciswithoutrads.com/
or his website:www.breastcancerconsultdr.com/
If you call the number listed on the website Sheila will request your pathology slides and imaging from whatever hospital has them. Dr. Lagios reviews everything and sends YOU the written report. Sheila will then set up a 45 minute phone consult with Dr. Lagios, you and anyone else that you would like to listen in. You can ask him anything you want.
Remember because DCIS is non-invasive, you don't need to rush into anything.
Please feel free to PM me or email me at lovetennis60@aol.com, if you have any questions.
Wishing you all the best,
Sandie

Hi Learner759, I also posted this same question here in this area. You can read the responses to my question as I had the same one from Sandie and a few others as well.
Edited to include the link to my post.

Hi Learner759 and all,
I was so happy to learn about Dr. Lagios and consult with him (thanks to Sandie Walters who created a website and shared her positive experience consulting with him for a 2nd opinion). What was important about my situation was that he changed my diagnosis from intermeditate grade to low grade. This was a very important factor in continuing on my relentless path to find out more about my particular DCIS and risk of recurrence. I then consulted with two other surgeons and had the oncotype test. information is very empowering!! My whole story can be found on my blog: http://dcis411.com/donnas-journey/
Please PM me or email me if you have questions or want to connect. Blessings to you!
