Thank you everyone! Your thoughts and prayers worked. Benadryl did the trick and she should be out of the ER shortly. As someone who is allergic to most antibiotics, I know how scary those reactions can be.
HUGS!

as I continue to wrap my mind around everything, I find myself on this site, and this thread specifically, many times a day. You are all inspiring and push me forward. I want to put my head in the sand and your posts remind me to keep it real. Hugs to everyone (I'm a really good hugger).

BrandyR - I think we all feel like that at some point, love to wake up and this isn't real. Don't lose sight of the bigger picture, focus on the things that bring you joy big or small and surround yourself with loving, caring, sensitive understanding people. They'll have you feeling like you can do anything...and so you will. Hugs to you.
Peggy - Gosh I have missed that part with DIL, hope everything is OK!!!!
-
Peggy, my friend definitely knows she has cancer--the minute they called her and she heard “ductal carcinoma in situ," she knew. The words “results: malignant" in the path report reinforced that. But until I got the report today, we both thought she'd have an easier time of it than I did--after all, mine was invasive. Don't know if she knows all the implications going forward, what's normally recommended for a more aggressive wider field of DCIS, and which of those avenues are foreclosed to her by her comorbidities.
Brandy, I hear you about wanting to sick your head in the sand and hope it goes away when you come up for air. When I got my biopsy report, the chorus of that old Tori Amos song “Cornflake Girl” kept looping in my head: “this is not real, this is not really happeni-ha-ing. You bet your life it is...” But the realer it gets, the more you learn what’s up next, and the calmer and more goal-directed you feel.
Went with the steak tonight--it was terrific. Didn't need any steak sauce--the espresso salt was that flavorful. As someone who used to have red meat 4x/wk, having it once (or maybe twice) a week makes me appreciate it all the more, and not want to waste it on a hamburger, hot dog, deli sandwich or pork chop.
Heads up, IL/IN/WI ladies: Chicago Restaurant Week began tonight and runs through 2/4. This weekend is also the Travel & Recreation Expo--and Rick Steves will be a speaker. (Hope he's on Sunday--our Sat. is kinda full).

Peggy, so glad DIL is ok! Scary.
MLP: thinking of you today and surgery and also Yay you and hubs!!!
Chisandy, sorry to hear about that bad commute! I live in Maryland and just don't go there if I possibly can avoid it when anything at all is predicted.
Melclarity: wise thoughts, thank you.
I'm sure i missed many but this gal's calling it. Night all!
-
Thanks 614,Sloan and April! I'm glad to be done with chemo. I'm having a party in my mind. Steroids are keeping me up lol. That was so great that you guys got to meet. That would be so cool. You both look mahvelous.
Peggy I hope you DIL gets better soon. And ChiSandy that's scary news for your friend. I hope things go well for her. Welcome Brandy, things get easier once you have a direction. I'm sure I missed some great people, sorry but I have chemo brain lol!
My MO was quick to disagree with me today I was asking about recurrence and that there was always that possibility and he said "For the majority of people there is a cure." Not necessarily in my case , but it was still great to hear. Think positive
-
The punctuation is so frustrating here. Type it correctly and it disappears. I wish they had spell check!!!' Ugh
-
Chisandy - That's sad about your friend, Im so sorry!! I am confused though, she has DCIS but was told its malignant?? Ive had DCIS and I was told it was precancer, and it meant that there's a likelihood of it becoming Cancerous. My BS 4yrs ago treated it aggressively with lx, rads ad 4yrs of tamoxifen but I still got a recurrence in the same spot aggressive Stage 3 BC. Really hope she'll be OK!
-
ChiSandy, all you can do is be there for your friend and I know you will be. Steak sounds awfully good. I don't eat beef much anymore either - not sure why since I pretty well ignore most of the nutritional guidelines and eat what works for me. I also like my glass of wine with dinner.
DIL is fine. She was at the ER forever. Luckily the paramedics who responded to their house gave her Benadryl and that did the trick. Very scary with eyes swelling shut, puffy face and itchiness. Very relieved.
Jclc, I don't have trouble with punctuation and words that something (BCO, Chrome?) doesn't like are underlined in red. I write on my laptop 99% of the time, rarely on my Samsung Note or Samsung Tablet. And as Dr Susan Love points out in her Breast Book, 1 in 4 or 1 in 100 odds of something happening or not don't matter; when it happens to you it's 100%! Odds just don't matter much except to statisticians.
HUGS!

I am amazed when I see posts that mentions everyone individually. I feel like when I finally have a chance to catch up, I end up posting lots of small posts, which I'm sure is annoying as it takes up valuable page space. I just figured out that I can have this thread open on my phone and my desk top, too. Sometimes it's more than one page of posts since my last reply and getting it all in one message is difficult. From now on, I'm going to try and use both phone and computer while replying to multiple posts
Sloan and April - so fun that you could meet up. I love the smiley face in the back ground.
Sandy - yikes, for your sister. The DC area doesn't do snow well. I'm glad she was able to get to a safe place. I've very sorry to hear about your friend's dx. Cancer sucks!
1step - good luck on your next chapter in the journey
Peggy - prayers to your DIL. I'm glad she can take Benadryl. I'll allergic to penicillin. My first reaction was not anaphylactic, but I never want to find out if my second one would be!
JCLC - Congrats on finishing chemo!!
LTF - love the hat, and be careful crossing the street. We'd miss you if you got hit by a bus.
Molly - Good luck to your friend. DH's Aunt just was told she needs a biopsy after her repeat mammo. It seems like everywhere I look I see cancer now ;(
And lastly, MLP3 - good luck today! Here's to clean margins and no node involvement! Hope you have big pockets, cuz we're all with you!
My niece left for a semester in Rome yesterday. When I sent her a text before she got on the plane I told her she wasn't alone over there and that I was in her pocket. I love that phrase, Thanks, Peggy!
Thanks for all the compliments to my Daughter. I'm blessed with 2 great kids. 8th grade has been great for her, but the beginning of middle school was hellacious. I'm hoping HS is great experience for her (and for me, too!)

Gemma, I can't take credit for the "in your pocket" phrase. It was well-used when I joined BCO a year and a half ago. It seems so comforting to me. My pockets tend to be rather snug since I wear rather tight jeans (I'm so vain!) thus I really notice my friends dancing in them. Give your kids a big hug for me - you are blessed!
HUGS!
-
Mel - DCIS is non-invasive cancer. LCIS, which I also have, isn't cancer but pre-cancerous. Many times, DCIS shows up along side of IDC. The treatment plan is always based on the more serious dx, the IDC.

I feel bad that I shared Julia's pic and not David's. So here are my boys.. David and Augie (my jack russell). And my favorite pic of David, as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray, in 4th grade (he's in 6th now and didn't do drama this year
) I love, love, love his stance. Maybe he'll help me with my wig if I end up with chemo.
-
jclc- congrats on your last chemo!
Chisandy- so sorry to hear about your friend.
Peggy- sorry to hear about your dil.
Ltf- love the hat!
If I missed anyone I apologize... I'm heading into Boston for surgery and should have a note pad with me to make notes on everyone here to respond correctly!!
Apparently Mr Kraft didn't get my memo that I wanted Tom Brady and Garofoko here to at least valet my car... The game is Sunday!!
Ok everyone... Get cozy in my pocket... Almost there💪🏻👍🏻
-
MLP3, I'm dancing - feel me?? Now hurry home, feel good and miss all the weather.
Gemma, what a cutie your son is! Doggie is too - I have his cousin, a rat terrier.
HUGS!
-
GOOD LUCK MLP3!!!!!!
-
Sandy- so sorry about your friend but really glad you will be there for her. Sounds like you and Bob are enjoying Restaurant Week and I hope you get to hear Rick Steves. The whole DC area weather issues are terrible. Did you see that the president's motorcade got caught in the ice and had problems getting him out of there, Wednesday night, I think. We only have light freezing rain with sleet overnight- expecting mre ice today and winds. Hoping to keep electricity but if not, will really count on our wood burning fireplace. Currently, it's not as bad as predicted but we still have 12-24 more hours of it so we will see. My sister lives about an hour away and they have about 10 inches of snow this morning already. THAT, I would LOVE!
Peggy- so glad DIL is ok. Know you must be so relieved. Scary stuff.
Gemma- what a cutie, your son! Pup, too. I have a feeling your children will have some god wig style ideas
SO glad your DD is having a good MS experience.
-
ChiSandy, I saw on the news last night Mayor somewhere down in the DC area apologizing for not calling out the salt truck soon enough. Missed the part that said where. Glad she is safe. Our for cast keeps changing. I get annoyed with all the hype any more. Having grown up around the southern PA area I know that when you get down toward the Baltimore/DC area an inch of snow makes the world stop. My brother worked in Baltimore and he would get so frustrated with there inability to handle anything. He commuted from York PA since 1968. He went to school in Michigan and loved how they handled snow up there. Our latest forecast is 12-18 inches. They keep changing the location of where the worst will hit.
I cannot keep up with this list. Good luck those having surgery. One of these days I will find a picture of my furry creatures and post. My little 4 pound rat terrier is camera shy and my little chihuahua's only redeeming freature is he is cute and cuddly.
-
MLP3, Mr. Kraft didn't send Gronk either? Edelman lives down the street from one of my co-workers on Comm Ave. Maybe he'll swing by.
Good luck today!
-
Gemma, your boys are adorable. Mlp3 we are all crowded in your pocket.
-
Good luck and speedy recovery MLP3!
-
MLP3 - Here's some Gronk for ya! He's giving you a big hug! He's in your pocked with the rest of us. Please don't disturb us...
-
Gronk! Gemma, that just made me laugh.
-
Thank you all for the prayers for my friend. She texted me that all is okay!!
-
Molly- GREAT news!
Ok, y'all, what is the deal with Gronk? I obviously REALLY missed something! Wow!
-
Molly, that's fantastic!
HUGS!
-
HappyHammer - MLP3 was disappointed that Tom Brady didn't show up to valet her car at the hospital this AM, so I sent her another NE Patriot to give her a hug. Not surprisingly, there are plenty of pics of a shirtless Ron Gronkowski out there on google images. I thought she'd get a kick out of it.

Met with Dr. Gloom this morning. She was in a better mood, and declared no chemo for me! She was surprised Oncotype came back in as low risk. I will think on it for a few days, but probably wont get an second opinion. I probably need to move forward and not look back.
Hugs and Love to all my friends here.
-
Ha-ha. I'd probably watch a lot more sports if they were all playing shirtless...!
-
Haha- Gemma and April!
